Re: Server Screen broken up
Okay, here's where I sit so far. I have a 40 gig drive installed (Vista drive disconnected for now). The 40 now has XP installed but I've come across a couple problems. I have 2 things that show up in control panel with the yellow question marks. There is also a yellow ! beside a "Universal Serial Bus (USB) controller".
1 - PCI Device
2 - SM Bus Controller
I also, for some reason, have no internet connection. I did when it was running Vista but with the XP it says I have "limited or no internet connection". With any of my pc's including Vista, I just hooked it to my connection and away it went.
I installed everything from SP2 to .net framework 2.0. If I could just get these few things solved, I think I would be over the worst part. I also had to take out the DVD burner and put a cheaper cd rom in, in order to get the xp installation to run. Would always give me errors.
** I now have everything sorted except the internet thing. For some reason I cannot get any internet connection. Any ideas?
Re: Server Screen broken up
With no internet connection and PCI Device, SM Bus Controller flaged, Do you have a pci network card not installed? How ever unless your other pcs connect thru the one your working on to the internet it makes no since none of them can go on line.
A chip set driver may fix the SM Bus Controller error. But you need to look at what PCI cards are in the slots and check if one of them is what is flagged or do you have some thing plugged in to a USB port thats not installed.
Heres a link to a Intel® Chipset Identification Utility That may help you find the correct chip set driver if thats the issue.

If the eithernet is built into the mother board updating the chip set may fix it.
Re: Server Screen broken up
On the internet problem have you updated the NIC drivers. XP does have alot of drivers included with the instal but I have run accross a couple NIC cards that wouldn't work until I installed the correct drivers for the card. If you can't get online with the PC in question you might have to download the drivers from another PC and save them to disc then instal them on the other PC.
Re: Server Screen broken up
Download ->this<- . Run it, Reboot your computer and try the internet again.
Re: Server Screen broken up
If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have none at all....lol
Turns out that the port in the router that I had the pc hooked too suddenly decided to give out and quit working. :smash.gif:
I tried it on one of the other ports and it works fine. Guess I have to replace the router now.
So, I'm one step closer to completing this. Next, I'm hooking the Vista drive back up without the XP one hooked up, installing VistaBootPro, then going to try hooking them both up.
Have all my fingers crossed
Re: Server Screen broken up
You can Hook both hard drives up now. Vista boot pro will need to see XP and Vista both to create the dual boot. You can down load it to vista with out having to copy or move it around.
You should be able to boot into either system now by pressing F2 before Xp loads.
Re: Server Screen broken up
GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY.......
I've finally got it all sorted out and working. Had to restart everything from scratch including re-installing Vista AND XP about 3 times...lol
But, it was worth it as I now have a dual boot system with Vista/XP Pro.
Now I'm installing C4 and the Logitech Profiler to see if it all works on this new system.
Can't thank you enough for all your help and knowledge with this Reaper. It is deeply appreciated!! :icon_beer.gif:
Re: Server Screen broken up
Good to hear you got it set up. Nothing like having the best of both worlds.
At some point all gamers will have to use Vista. As newer games are created,
those games will be designed with Vista as the main OP system in mind. Once that happens gamming on Vista should improve.
Re: Server Screen broken up
You are right again Reaper!!
Is it ok if I copy these words?
I would like to keep them for the future and maybe ill put them on my website for future reference, as I know they will be very handy indeed.
