I wonder if anyone else has this problem? I have no tiler tab on my viewer. I have the info and thumbnail tab, but instead of a tiler tab I have one called block. I am of course unable to add any tiles, Does anyone know what may be the cause of this prob.

Haven't heard of this problem before. Try downloading the updated editor from downloads this site and see if that helps.
Copy it to C4 directory and placing a short cut to your desktop to access it.
You didn't say what editor it was I'm assuming its C4?

this problem is common among people who have hair on their fingernails and fail to hang their tongue out properly while making a map.
reboot your computer, get a manicure, reposition your tongue and try again.

I get the Block tab showing when I first start the mission editor - with no tiles available. In my case, this is resolved by going to Edit => General Information and loading a set of Mission Tiles. I believe Reaper also hinted about this in another thread..here...
Well. yeah, it is C4 thanks for the response, and yes I am using the updated mission editor, though the problem prevails with the original one too. I tried it just to make sure.
I have tried selecting a and loading a tile file, still no joy, and yes I have done the reboot, and even the complete reinstall after having removed the C4 installation. Al to nought.
Suggestions Mr Sulu, But not from Pinky and perky up there.

Okay..this is what I get from this, putting Ben and Smeller aside. When you first open the editor, you will notice that in the tile tab the word BLOCK does appear. If you open General Information and pick a Mission Terrain and close, you should now have tiles in the Tiles Tab.
This is somewhat what Blue just said but chosing a Mission Terrain instead of Mission Tiles but both should give you tile option now.

Try this, open editor choose terrain, choose your set of tiles open the map. Then go to edit, look down the drop down screen and click the tile tool bar, you should have a set of tiles pop it on the top of the screen now.

The truth is, in all the months I've worked with the editor and I have installed it on different os and computers I have yet to come across this problem and haven’t heard of anyone else having this problem and I've corresponded with a number of people in the issue of the editor when putting manuals together.Originally posted by jimscreechy

I am more then willing to help you solve this problem because I’m sure it must be very frustrating for you. I know you’ve tried everything possible and you say nothing works. You’ve removed the game and then physically deleted the Nova Logic directory then tried to re-install the game. Outside of saying maybe you should take the disk back and get a new copy your obviously missing something in the install of your game.
I realize even a five year old could probably open the editor and pick a terrain and then set tile to it so by all means I hope you can understand my confusion with your problem at this point because by all means your editor should do just what I said it should.
Obviously the problem doesn’t lie with the editor but with your copy of the game and how it installing to the HD which in that case it’s a question of maybe if you can install your copy to someone else computer and see if it does the same thing and if it does, bring it back and get a new copy...you can do that.
Well, that doesn't sound very likely, but I suppose it is "remotely" possible.
All of the solutions so far suggested revolve around performing the same operations which quite clearly, don't work.
I believe the only sensible way forward is for someone with knowledge on what conditions will cause this problem to provide input. As this has not happend I dont see the point in persuing the matter.
I have spent as much time on this problem as I believe it is worth, so now consider it closed.

what your given up ??? whats your puter spec's ?? speed ram vid so on .all n/l map editor's are ram hog's also is your map made except for the tile placement's ?? . i'll place my tile's on the map n/l when buildn the map . there is an item limit and such . reaper's suggestion is how it's done, in the general information window where ya choose terrain map type and so on . choose the terrain tile's also if it dosent show up still . where did you dnld the editor from ??? i dnld mine from here all of it work's fine for me . i will admit the trn tile's are kinda hard at 1st to figure out how to use em but when ya do it's all good then lol . so duder dont rip editor unless ya wanna give upOriginally posted by jimscreechy

My post was an honest attemp to help, The methed I used is different than just choosing a list of tiles and looking on the main sceen when the map comes up. Not knowing how much experiance you have using the editor, You may not have known you can bring the tiles up like that.
since this a problem none of us of seen before. That leaves a few other opptions 1 you have a prob with your sytem , mabe the editor was installed wrong. or you were not choosing a list of tiles. The post was not made to make you feel like a dummy. But since none of us is sitting there we cant see the problem your having. The jokes that get posted here are always in fun. But quit often a post like yours is the result of someone unfamilar with the editor thats why you got the responses you did. But with out more detailed information we can't help. If you wanna give up thats up to you. But there are guys here that would keep comming up with ideas with more info.
