    1st of many questions....

OK Inso, you asked for it.......

BTW this is very exciting, it could be a whole new game !!!

Being a novice mapmaker, Ive always wanted to include different
settings in my maps, but was always limited by what Nova would
allow us to do. So my 1st question to you is.....

Is there any way to unlock (or enable) the environment file
    in the C4med ?
Is it possible that this will be included in the "NEW" exp pack ?
This sure would make maps more interesting, ie: to fly through
real weather conditions, like rain or snow, or a hurricane wind.... lol.
Or make a TRUE night map, not just with black fog.

I know Im asking for alot here, but I think that would
be a huge improvement in C4

    Thanks ...

I can't wait to try it out Inso

HEy Inso the new terrains look awesome, me and the Boys in the DIE squad can't wait to try out you new terrains. If there's anything that I (or my squad members) can do to help you out just drop me or them a line. Excellent job as usual though Inso and I'm thinking that I wish the empolyees at Nova were 1/2 as dedicated as you were on making a great game even better.

    Hey Stray,
For starters you dont need to "unlock" anything in the med for environments. what you do need however is an environment file. If you have unpacked any of your pff's the environment files are packed into the c4tdata.pff file with an .ENV extension. Using notepad you can create an env file just make sure you save it as .env and not .txt. Now without packing the files into the pff you can still use them by creating a new shortcut to the med editor and the c4.exe and then add a /d at the end of the command line. Please remeber that the env files are like the terrians, everyone must have it for it to work. I do belive that we are going to try to release some sunsets at the very least with the exp pack. Please try some on your own and let us know how it goes. Maybe you could create a few env for the exp pack?

This is a copy of the Original env file for Sunset1 you can use it as a base to get an idea. And I also reccommend you unpack the remaing env files and have a look at them as well.

    enviro_name "sunset1 - glowing sunset"

    ;water values
water_rgb 48,48,96 ;color seen when under water and surface color
murk_rgb 0,64,16 ;terrain tinter, deeper water, more color

sky_map1 sky7.pcx ;cloud pcx, shadow & reflect layer
sky_map2 gray.pcx ;cloud pcx, wispy lower layer
    sky_height 550
    sky_speed 00150000 ;movement rate

    fog_rgb 223,149,122 ;fog color
    fog_level 2000 ;0=1000 meters 1=500 meters etc.
fog_type 1 ;0=exponential, 1=linear distance (allows 3di's to be seen from farther away)

    lightning 0 ;set lightning 0 = off, 1 = type 1

sun_rgb 64,64,56 ;yellowish sun offsets blue sky
sky_rgb 129,76,49 ;overhead hemisphere light - set for blueish sky
ambient_rgb 52,48,44 ;underneath hemisphere light - set for green terrain

terrain_rgb 223,149,122 ;terrain tinting color (255,255,255 is default)
vertex_rgb 223,149,122 ;vertex tinting color (255,255,255 is default)

    isun_rgb 74,64,60 ;DISABLED 45 degrees west
isky_rgb 16,16,16 ;DISABLED overhead planer light, hits sides as well
iambient_rgb 100,100,100 ;DISABLED all over, adds to all lighting

    sun_3di ;sun/moon object
    glare_3di ;glare object
star_3di ;star object / leave blank for null

    DFLW env,

It does not seem to take the env file using the /d as it does with c4, it is possiable that the new env file will need to be listed in the items.bin. I will see if I can get this working and post it in the DF mapping section.
