You forgot ME.

I often create similar VMs just to have a look around and use the old native software again. I miss being exposed to the more technical side of things. You had to get your hands dirty back then to master your OS.

I always considered ME Win 98SE+, so I never bought it. I also skipped 2000, but Wildman used it - even after XP came out.

I had good luck with 98 but Windows 7 has been the best so far for me. I actually started with DOS, dual floppy drives, where you had to put the os in one and any program you wanted to run in the other. Illustrations appeared as various letters arranged in such a way to look or represent a picture...fun times.
