    Area Trigger Help

Thought this was posted somewhere but I'm not finding it...

I have a trigger around a large area and what I want is the Comanche to lose health if the player crosses that line. I know it can be done in DF but can't remember if we could get that effect in C4, it might have been through the WAC? Anyone remember?

If you happen to figure it out thats cool if not don't worry. I think I'm just going to go with another alternative with this map for now.

How exactly would you do that in DF...? Are you talking about SP or MP games...? I've only experimented with DF2, but I thought at least for MP games, it's not possible to single out one player and monitor him with events and then make something happen to him (for instance loosing health)...

    Re: Area Trigger Help

From what I remember its not possible in MP only in single player. Like most of the effects you can use with the editor, a lot of these effects do not work in MP. If I remember correctly, messing around with area triggers in MP the effect (player losing health or getting killed off) would only happen to the host and not to the other players who join, I could be wrong about that though its been a while.

The more I think about having a boundary where a players Comanche loses health or is destroyed the more I probably won't use it since most people like the idea of the "endless" terrain. I'm going with a event trigger that just tells the player they are out of the area boundaries of the task at hand.

The only real problem I'm having with it at the moment (again its been a few years since I've messed with the editor) when the player crosses the boundaries a dialog plays but does not reset when the player crosses back over and then possible gos back out, the event will not trigger again. I'm trying to figure it, I'm rusty.

(I think I got it to work with the dialog....)

    Re: Area Trigger Help

I've 'wasted' 2 solid days trying to get a decent server built that can host a LAN game. I wanted to keep it all legit, using the operating systems I have here - and use 64bit to take advantage of the extra memory. I haven't gotten to work on this. Ummm, I know this is possible in BHD - we used to put this around fires.
