    Pings

Anyone been noticing higher than normal pigs to all the servers? Since 4-5 Jan, I've had double the ping times to every server out there. Ive reset the router to factory spec, reset my Ethernet card, reset the Modem to factory, and even taken the router out of the loop, but it makes no difference. Up and Download are the same as before, just all the pings are high.. Where I used to get 145 to EFA, is not over 200, CFS has gone from 60 to 140's... Anyone else seeing this?

Also, a few years back, we all had an issue with not being able to see ping times... all came back as Unknown.. We found a fix for that, but I can't remember what it was. Alot of the Win 7 guys are seeing this issue again.. If you remember let me know

I tested the servers this morning. Your server was averaging 78-79. Everything seems to be fine.

I went back later and your server was reading the same. There was another server pinging at 64. EFA servers were pinging at 140 but I don't join them because, well, I'm not allowed - the servers block me from coming in.

    Taken from NOVAWORLD forum:
Yes ... there is a solution to see the servers ping time.

These are some tips to set proposed by Scott*RCS* pilot to me on a private e-mail.

    1) First message.

I run Win7 also. I have not had any problems seeing the pings but will try and help. First thing to do is double check your firewall/router security settings, make sure its still set the way you want it. Second, disable UAC in the control panel (requires reboot) Third disable Windows Firewall in the control panel (its worthless) Forth disable DEP... had to do this with another game.... 1. Click Start 2. Click All Programs 3. Click Accessories 4. Right Click on Command Prompt 5. Left click on Run as Administrator 6. Click the Allow button if it asks you for permission 7. Type or copy and paste this into the command prompt window: bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff 8. Hit enter and you should see the confirmation: Operation Completed Successfully 9. Reboot and DEP should be off. Hope one of these works for you. Let me know if they do or do not work? Good Luck! Scott

    2) Second message.

Hey no problem bud! Sorry I wasn't more specific in my last message. Ok UAC = User Account Control You can find it in here Control Panel/User Accounts and Family Safety/User Accounts/Change User Account Control Settings. Move the slider all the way down and click Ok That will disable that annoying pop=up everytime you try to open a program. DEP = Data Encryption Protection You can find more info on it and UAC at microsofts website. I had to disable them both to make other multiplayer games run properly, plus it cut down some of the lag while gaming. I'm not sure how or why... but it worked.

    Re: Pings

I don't personally use UAC - but use DEP - unless it is problematic for a certain program. If it is, then I simply cut it off for that program. The firewall is also disabled 'per program'.

Just out of curiosity... Why not simply post this solution instead of emailing everyone and then send them to Nova to read it ?

    Re: Pings

Mine's not from OS issues, it's IP issues. Doing tracert, I find that there's a IP addy in Kansas that we're being routed thru (belonging to ATT) that is causing my high pings. When my ping hits that IP it goes crazy. I've sent the Technician associated with the IP a note asking why we are routed there, and why his IP is causing so many issues. Funny thing about it, is that it only comes into effect when pinging SO. Cal or the East Coast? San Fran and points north are not effected.. But because I have to route thru it, to get to Nova (in SO CAL), I'm getting high pings..

    Thanks for the help...
