what exactly duz OD Mean? and what tool and items do you use? Can I make 'em?!
OD stands for Odyssey, as in the name of the mod. all the items on the map are new, almost every stock item in C4 has been removed, I kept some ai vehs and the ai people. The models were created using 3D MAX, the textures were created using CS2 photoshop, the models were then exported to the BHD mod tool OED to create the 3di files nova games use, Then a converter was used to convert the BHD version 3di to the type C4 uses.
The mod uses a edited game .exe and 2 meds for mapping both med .exe files were also edited to work with the mod.
The mod is very close to release, I am doing some clean up work on the mod files and mapping and doing some website work this week to get ready for release next week.
The mod will be released as two downloads. One will be the mod. You can host and play it with that download. The second download will be a map/mission builders kit. With the meds, terrain pics, evn pics and information on mapping the mod.
The website work is to finish a new C4 tech site for OD release, it also has a map/mod help section. That will explain how to do some of the object creation used on OD.

Are we doing the beta / map thing as was previously discussed? I am hoping you mean next week and not this..
Yes the release will be beta, {fully functional} the 18th ?, I plan to use an update to go full version a few weeks later.
So it will work like this:
Players down load the mod {beta}, over the next few weeks they report any issue they find. A few weeks later a small download with your stuff and any fixes will be posted.
The main menu says beta, the full version will include the new menu with the mod version. The mod version will also be listed on the
C4 mod website. I am leaving the option to update the mod with new maps and content should I want to add more stuff later. When the mod updates I change the mod enough so players can not join a server running the latest version, they down load the new update and can play again.
The mappers kit will be released with the beta, as another download. The beta will have no med, the stock meds will not work on OD. The mod was designed this way so players who don't map don't have to down load the extra files.
once the beta is out if any one wants to make maps for it they can, after they download the mappers kit. They will have the option to send me the maps to have them included in an update later or keep them to themselves. This gives mappers the chance to submit content after the mod is released.
If some one wants to try modding the same option goes for them, The website has tech that someone new to modding can use to create content, including basic simple instructions so a newbie can understand what they need to do.
Hear's the deal for years we complained there was no updated content for C4, not even some new maps from Nova.
The community made maps, and some mods but because we didn't have the coders other Nova games did there was never a polished complete update for C4.
OD is my version of C5 very little original content was used. It was designed so it could be updated with new content when the commuinty wants it. Also as the few modders and mapper left in the community know, we all learned a lot of information over the years that is not being used because the community is almost dead. I am hoping a new version of C4 will help keep the old players interested, and bring some back.
The stuff I learned over the years was used to ceate OD. The option for other mappers and modders to add stuff they have learned was taken into account while i planned the mod, hince the open ended option to add updates at a later date. This includes new players coming in from steam in the future. The idea that the community needed a c4 we could add new content to was a big focus in planning the mod. i didn't look at release of OD as the end result, but as a big step in continuing process.
