Map creaters wanted

OD is just about ready to go in to the first of 2 betas, If any map makers in the community are interested in mapping for the mod, post to this thread by the end of the week so I know who is willing to help.

Mappers for OD will for the first time in any nova mod will be able to place a bill board on any map you create to show you created the map.

What is required from the mappers:
You place 1 of your map created by billboards and 1 of the OD mod created by billboards on each map you create.

You need to follow the map name system I use, you can name the map what ever you want however the map name is done in the bin file not on the mis/bms files.

You let me know what type and how many maps you want to build, then I will assign you mis/bms file names.

DM, TDM are all needed however the single player and coop play have been left in the mod with out maps, if those are the type of maps you want to build that is fine to.

If you do not know how to edit bin files I will get you the tools and tell you how to do it. Editing bin files is a simple 1 line standard text edit then you run the text to bin converter to create the bin file it takes about half a minute to complete.

You have the rest of September and the first 3 weeks of Oct to create maps after that I want to release the 2nd beta to test all maps before the final release of the of the Mod.

For any player who has not mapped before, but would like to try you are welcome to help. DM and TDM maps are not hard to create and there is help availible to help you learn.

The billboards are already created I need names of the mappers interested in this project to add to the graphic so i can get them set up.

Mappers will download an updated beta version of the mod next week ( I need to replace your name on the map created by billboard before you download the map makers version of the mod).

As a side note, This is the biggest most complete mod update to C4 the community is likley to see. If you want to be apart of this now is the time to let me know.

I have begun working on what we discussed... but it has been slow going, getting familiar again with Max and the OED. It will definitely be done in time for the 2nd Beta and I would like my map to include it... if this is ok. I would kinda prefer not to reveal it before the map... :-)

We can test it our selves and wait till the final release to reveal it, as I want to deal with it in the mod information in general also, so take your time.

I would like to volunteer my services, I have absolutely no idea of what you want but am willing to learn, I learn fast!
If you could draw me an outline of what you want, it would be helpful.

I need DM and TDM maps made, using the OD mod items. Nothing fancy I can give you some guild lines so the maps play well. I will write you up some information to get you started.

Next week I will release a version of the mod for mapping and a map makers kit with tools, terrain/evn pics and some general information about items in the mod. The map makers version url is only for the people making maps and will be sent to you via a privite message here at CPD some time next week.

I need to know how you want your name on the bill board so I can add it to the mod before I release the map makers version.

I expect to have the mappers version of the mod ready by friday. The time line I set for making maps is only a general guildline for the mod release, Take your time and do not hurry the maps, if the mod is delayed it is no big deal, It is more important that it playes well than is done at a certain time.

If you have never made any maps before play with the med a bit this week to see how it works, then I can answer any questions you have about mapping.

I have never made a map and I hardly get any time on the PC now a days so I think id be useless at helping out with new maps.

But I wonder about your old DM maps, could they be easily converted to suit the requirements of OD?

They were great maps BTW

No C4 maps can be converted for OD, The stock items you place on the map are not in OD. However the same style many of the old maps were created in is being used as I create the mod maps.

Some of my favs will be re-created only the items were designed for the map so they fit in better and appear more realistic, aside from the spaceships lol.
