DFX2 Open Beta From Ravenn@Novaworld

Apologies for the lack of communications over the last couple of months – everyone’s been incredibly busy with GDC, DF:AF and of course, finishing DFX2.

Thanks for your patience – I’ve got some good news for everyone. You should see an official press release next week with specifics on release dates, European distribution, price points and information on where to find DFX2 in both retail stores and digital download. We should have some more screens up following the official announcement.

Better yet, in the next week or two, a free beta of DFX2 will be available for everyone to download and check out both the single player and (of course) the multiplayer gameplay. Our plan is to let our Gold members test-drive the servers for a while first, and then open it up to the public. The response we’ve had on DFX2 from GDC has been overwhelmingly positive and we’re excited to give everyone a sneak preview of the real deal.

You can look forward to some gorgeous, exciting and immersive multiplayer environments, along with totally new weapons handling, NW squad support, improved networking and anti-cheat on NovaWorld servers.

We’re almost there, guys, and things are looking great. Thanks for hanging in there.

I'm a little confused as to what game NL is getting ready to release?

Thought it was Angle Falls but I've been ready more about DFX2 lately.

"Coming Soon" in the terms of NL means, "maybe this year but more like next year, we'll just have to wait and see."

Well, as a gold member, I feel much more important than you. I should also be given access to things that you should not have access to. In fact, I think they should offer games where you guys only get half of the game..

-trucks with flat tires and no spares.
-guns without ammo and jam
-tanks without tracks or turrets
-coop maps without AI or objectives
-tkoth maps on flat land with no zones

OK, so actually all it means I bought the 10th Anniversary Edition of the DF Games and got a year's worth of 'Gold Membership'.

DFX2 is a polished version of DFX. It is due to arrive a bit earlier than AF. You are right, they are slow...

So lem'me get this straight. If I obtain a "Gold Membership" I will be able to say that I am a member of an exclusive group of peps who all get to sit around in a forum and ask the same question day after day, "when is the game coming out?"

I don't know what to say about a game like this after enjoying games like FC2 and Crysis on DX10. This game is another (cleaned up) DFX and JO. Sure, it has cleaner graphics - but not at all outstanding... especially when you compare the objects and detail you'll find in FC2 and Crysis. Many of the same objects and 'dying animations' we've been looking at since the Land Warrior Days have been ported - again - to another game. The AI still seem to be as dumb as a box of rocks. I'm not really understanding what Nova has actually done to call this a 'new' game.

I really enjoy the way Nova games play in MP, and the mapping tools they usually provide. I actually prefer single player/coop and AAS missions - so perhaps their online gaming is for someone else to comment on.

IMHO, NL really needs to get some creative artists on the payroll... and quit porting from game to game to game. These enviroments are getting dated -- they've been around since JO. When you crank up FC2 and walk in the sunshine thru the grass and trees... you can almost feel the sun on your face, smell the air and feel the wind..... something that Nova is falling further behind in even approaching.

Still a fan..

Angel falls and DFX2 both look like they might have some good gameplay but the screens i saw makes me think they definately lack in the graphics department.

I don't think any of us will ever need to "upgrade" our computers to run any Novalogic game...its obvious that Nova isn't interested in working on a new engine to improve graphics.

Thats not to say their games are no good, they have a great fun factor and an editor so as DFX2 was actually DFX with some new assests, Angle Falls is probably going to resemble BHD with the same game play and cleaner graphics...and the only reason the graphics will look cleaner is because most of us have a more updated system to play it on.

I'll bet you I could play Comanche4 on my old Compaq (400MHz) with Windows95 ta'boot and the Voodoo Card...remember those? (lol)
