2 C4 severs on one network

I have 3 computers one is hosting a dedicated c4 server. I tried to host a second c4 server on my other machine but no one can log in including myself. The first server is setup in my router with 17200-17500 forwarded. I have the same for the second machine but it doesn't work. Anyone have any suggestions

you can not port forward to 2 diff machines using the same port range, The only option to try would be to change the ports in the config file for one of the machines then port forward 1 server to those new ports , But I dout it will work.

How ever what upload speed does the network have so you can run 2 servers just curous.

    Here is Novalogics Answer:

DSL/Cable Routers (NAT being Network Address Translation devices like cable/dl routers. Some firewalls act like NAT devices too.) take the IP address given you by your ISP and split it into mutiple addresses on the subnet of your LAN.

To connect to Novaworld each computer joining MUST have its own distinct IP address. This is the address that your ISP gave you and not the one on the subnet of the router.

If you are hosting a game from behind a router you will need to set the outbound port, or trigger and the incoming port the same as the firewall ports for the game.

You can play behind a NAT device. But you CAN NOT have multiple clients behind a single NAT device because of the requirement that each computer connecting must have its on distinct IP address.

You will need to contact the manufacture of the router for assistance on how to accomplish the set up. We do not supply support for the router.

The router will assign multible ip addresses thats why you can serve and play from inside the same network. Since this is a Linksys Router I would set a stadic IP on all 3 computers, the 2 he wants to serve from and the third to play from.

The question was how to serve from 2 pcs inside the same network. The issue is if you can set the ports C4 uses or not. If you can it's just a matter of port forwarding to the correct ip address. Other Nova games give you the option to change the ports the game uses, Joint Operations does as an example. If it can be done it will be a setting in the config file. I don't have C4installed and have to plans to install it just to test this. Besides Version 2 does not save changes to the config file the same way version 1 does.

you can set up the 2nd machine in a dmz so you don't have to forward the ports to that machine, just make sure the dmz machine has a good firewall since it will have no router protection.

you can also upgrade your cable so that you have multiple ip addresses, and put a switch in front of your inside router. those machines will also need inherent firewalls..

I think if you set each each PC to a static IP through the router you should be good. I ran two C4 servers off my router with out having to change anything in the config files.

Re: 2 C4 severs on one network

Here's the info that is on the C4 readme.txt

Multiple servers on a NAT network:
Because servers are configured to use port 17200 (0x4430), you
may not get the server to work behind a NAT device without server
configuration changes. You need to configure the servers to use
different ports. Simply edit C4.cfg and change the existing line
"mp_ServerGamePort = 0" to a unique port. We recommend ports
    17200, 21296, 25392, 29488, 33584, 37680, 41776, 45876, 49968,
    54064, 58160 or 62256.

NOTE: For a LAN IP game, if your use a port other than the above
prescribed ports, you will need to reconfigure the client.
Clients searching for LAN servers with reconfigured ports need to
change the existing line "mp_gameport = 0" to match the server’s
    mp_ServerGamePort.

Re: 2 C4 severs on one network

Thank guys for all the help. I think the changing the base port in C4.cfg seems to have done the trick. Then port frowarding that port. Will let you know after a trial period, work for one day.
