My Server

Hello Gentlemen, you may have noticed that the =FUN= 24/7 Server has been down over the last few days. this is due to the fact that I firstly damaged my 'Player' Computers motherboard, and had to replace it! I then built a new PC, and decided to use this new one as my 'Player' computer, and use my old 'Player' PC as a new 'Server' computer, whilst doing all this I swapped HDD's around so I didn't lose all my info from my Player PC. I then used the new HDD in my Server PC (old player) and did a new install of c4. The installation did not go well. I cannot configure the c4.cfg file, with a variety of text editors; everytime I do, and try to run the server, it resets itself back to the default (I AM saving the changes).
Doing all this has also led to some internet connection issues, which I am trying to resolve along side the installation problems. It may be the fact that I am now using two different copies of WindowsXP. A very old one, and a fairly recent one.
I will now be resorting back to using the recent one on both PC's to see if that resolves the problems.
So, any extra help here would go down very well at the mo.

The config file not saving was once a version 2 issue. Try saving the file as read only. I don't remember if that saved the settings or not. Go back thru the forums and see if there is an answer there some where.

I do remember players having this problem When we started hosting 4 X team games and KOTH also. Version 1.5 saved while version 2 did not.

I went back and dug thru some of my c4 infomation and if you are running game version 2.

To save the config file try this down load. The C4 Get Player Manager, or the C4 Fixed V.1.0.1.20 exe by Bane. The player manager says it can edit the config file. Seems to me bane fixed the version exe so you could edit the config file for the koth games. Both down loads are here at CPD.

You know you realy should do all the updates and get the service packs for the older XP install and get it up to date. Not having those makes the comp vulnerable to viruses.

Just wanted to let you know to do that since i just recovered from a nasty bug.
