    A question

    It's been a while huh?

Anyways, in the last year I've supposedly have lost alot weight.
Strangely enough, I've only lost like 5-10 lbs.
I'm about 5' 8" and weigh 130. So I've just grown alot in height - about 6 inches.

My family keeps telling me that I'm too thin. I play basketball everday for about 2-3 hours (I still am terrible, but today they announced at the courts that I'm no longer a 'scrub'), but the thing is I don't eat too much.

I'm not starving myself or anything, but I've recently been put on a pill and a side effect is my loss of apetite. I eat perfectly fine when I don't take the pill, but I just can't help myself (I think I'm going to mention this to my doctor next time I see him).

I feel perfectly healthy. I drink 64 oz of water everyday, I work out more lately and everything, and I try to eat as much as I can, usually at evening around 8:00 because that's when the pill no longer has side effect.

    What do you think?
    Hello.

    18yo - 120lbs
    22yo - 140lbs
    27yo - 165lbs
    35yo - 175lbs
    40yo - 235lbs
44yo - 225lbs and trying to get the 35yo weight back.

Enjoy your light weight while you can... the years pass quickly and you will gain. Metabolism is a key factor. Some kids have higher metabolism rates than others. Besides, it appears that you are active - you are likely burning up the calories you eat. In fact, you might find it difficult to eat more calories than you can burn. If you supplement, watch your sugars and cholesterols. No need to start increasing your chances of diabetes or clogged arteries later in life to gain a little weight.

As for the reference to 'a pill' you are now taking - you give no indication of what you are taking. It's not really any of my business what it is, so do some research on the pill. I do know that medicines can affect such things as appetite.

    Re: A question

you have 1 great thing in your favor - you recognize that there is a potential problem - that is half the solution.

you can therefore take steps to make sure that the side effects don't affect your health by putting yourself on a regimen to make sure that your body at least gets everything you need - protein, vitamins, minerals.

just keep to at least a regular minimum diet so you know you are getting everything you need (set yourself a minimum amount of protein per day, take multi vitamin if you don't eat a lot of veggies, and make sure you eat a minimum amounts of greens/veggies per day), and try to take in a minimum amount of ruffage/grains also per day to keep your GI ok.

hopefully at some point you can get off meds and then let your appetite take over the process.

also, don't take too much advice from internet - discuss this with your doctor.

    good luck

    Wiper makes a valid point..

I'm not sure about ever having 'too much advice' from anywhere to assist in making an informed decision. The problem I see is getting ANSWERS from the internet. Many people come to their own conclusion too early and then search for answers to support their own (and possibly incorrect) conclusion.

I'm no Doctor - but 99% of my visits over the last 4 years have been with GI problems. Over that period, I've gotten some good ideas from the internet to help alleviate some of the symptoms (nothing major - just SAFE diet suggestions).

But like Wiper suggested, that was AFTER the Doctor has taken the lead and pointed me in the right direction. IMO, if you are really concerned, the sooner you go to the doctor, the sooner you stop putting yourself through the unnecessary stress of worrying over something your doctor can answer in minutes with a test or two.
