    Exclamation Setting up a server!

Hello all, I have been able to buy a new PC and have decided to set up my old PC as a server on Novaworld, What I would like to know is how I go about doing just that.
I have bought a router (4 Port) and have successfully connected both PC's to the internet via a Cable Modem with a 10Mg connection speed.
Where do I go from here, ie: what downloads do I need/want from Checkpoint Delta and Novaworld? and how do I configure my computers so I can play on my new (Player) PC connecting to both the old (Server) computer and the internet, and allow incoming players to connect to my Server?
This is a good one for you R~A~B, and for Avenger.

    Remember to stay low!
    and Have a nice one.

How you set up the server depends on the router you use. Basic set up is:
port forward the router to the pc you serve with.
Port range for C4 is 17200 to 17500. This should also cover BHD.

Joint Operations uses a diff set up if you play that let me know and I will
    explain the port forwarding.

On some routers you need to assign a stadic ip to each pc on the net work so you can join the server with the pc you will game with. If you want to let players get a ping you need to unlock the block wan request filter.

    Down loads:
maps for the game type you want to run. Keep in mind if you are going to mix custom maps and Nova stock maps, the files need to be in the same place ie all files in either the pff files or all maps in the C4 root folder. If you don't the server will crash when going from stock to custom and vice versa. If you are going to use mod type maps on the server all players need the files to join.

C4 Version 2 games, find the server manager to rotate maps.
keep a list of commands to punt, ban, save scores, resetgames and any other commands you may use handy.

    Thats just magic Reaper...
I have printed your reply so I can refer to it later, the problem @ the mo is because I am running two PC's off one modem I keep having my connection go down, but my ISP engineeer is coming out to boost the power on wednesday which should solve that problem.
I have a VERY BASIC router and to adjust it I have to go to their website, but I will figure that out later,
Can I recommend a kool game for all you guys....."Falcon 4.0: Allied Force" I did my first online ingress yesterday and although I got KIA (killed in action) it was a great experience, and I am smitten.

    Re: Setting up a server!

    Hey ya'all
I haven't started my server yet because I have a router problem, I now have three PC's on my LAN, and all is fine there! only I now have what seems to be a 'timeout' as I loose my connection about every ten minutes or so. I have only tried this out in the last three days and only on my playing machine. The only way I know I get disconnected is by Teamspeak going down and I cannot kill anyone in Comanche 4, after which I get a Connection Interuption, then I lose the server, I then do a reboot and everything is fine for another ten minutes, but it is begining to annoy me, is there a setting in the router I have overlooked or what!
The generic name for my router is "Broadband Router" and there is no refrence to it in the website 'Port Forwarding' so I am trying to figure it out on my own but (D'oh) it hurts my head. Can anyone gimme some advise here please?

    Re: Setting up a server!

Your router may be over loading, ie can't keep up with the game info being transferd to all the pcs. I had a router that would do that. What I would have happen would be all the players would go into a ci, I would have to either reboot, or if you caught it in time I would disconnect the cable line from the router for a few seconds then plug it back in and with any luck every one picked up thier connection again.

There is no setting to fix it. I got a new router and the issue went away.
