Joint Ops is multi player, The single player is simple training missions. I happen to be in the middle of creating 5 campaigns of 6 missions each using the ic mod in a single player format. The first campaign will be released in a couple of weeks.

If you make maps then yes it is. Joint Ops can give a map maker all the things you want in single player. You can script weather effects, Place text on the screen and create in game briefings via the {G} key using the med. I wont even go into Nile, I wont use it. If you just want to play the traning missions Nova released then no it is not. There are very few true single player missions to down load also. Most of what you will find are coop maps you play via lan, they were not designed for one player. If you want only Single player missions then I would say get Black Hawk Down, But the truth is Nova is not known for single player missions. The newest game Nova made was DF Extreme, uses the same game engine Joint Ops does. Should have single player I use it's med editor for Joint Ops.
I don't have it so I can't tell you how good it is. But some of the admin here do. They can fill you in on what the single player is like.
I guess it depends on what the MP portion is like then. I hate those were you just run around shooting at each other types where there's not much going on. It's boring IMO! I'd rather play SP like missions but in a MP environment. Meaning, I want to accomplish something...
Oh well, maybe I'll finally purchase SWAT 4.
The Coop multi player in Joint Ops is good, Many players play nothing else.
If you get it let me know. I will set up a time to host a server with some custom maps designed for objective based play using team work. Walk you thru how the game works and get you going.
I guess I might see if there is a demo...
Bought a game similar to JO, called Global OPs and it sucks.
you can play single player on jo and escalation just host a lan game with 1 player max and you dont even need to be connected to the internet or router but the missions are intended for multiplayer so they will be extremely hard for a single player but you will have infinite lives so you can keep trying until you finish the mission although you will end up getting killed alot if you are not careful

If someone just wants to play single player and doesnt map Jo is a poor chose, when compaired to other games designed for single player. Even playing coop via lan by your self with unlimited lifes doesn't cut it the maps were designed for more players.
How ever if someone wants to make there own missions, then it can give you many hours of fun with true single player type missions. With the med, wac scripts, ic mod, mod terrains a mapper can design just about any mission you can dream up.
