Though this movie wasn’t as good as Episode I or the previous series, but it did shed some light on how Anakin starts his turn towards the dark side. Still for some reason George Lucas felt the need to show us pretty much what we already knew and he could have condensed this entire episode down to a few minutes and explained in Episode I. The light saber duels between Aniken and Count Dooku, Yoda stepping in to whip some Dark Lord butt are all utterly amazing, as impressive as the duels with Obi-Wan and Darth Mall in Episode I. I was a little taken back at the site of Anakin’s arm being shaved off by Count Dooku’s light saber and not a droop of blood spattered out from it. I guess that’s PG ratings for ya. Another little quip I thought was somewhat comical was when Anakin and Amidala just arrived at her home planet and they were ascending the large stone steps, R2D2 was following behind climbing the steps with his three mechanical legs at a much slower pace then the two humans. As the camera pans, Anakin and Amidala walk by and you notice more step descending and ascending in front of them but in the next scene as they are walking through a large hallway, little R2D2 was closely behind them…man is that little bugger fast or what! Obviously they waited for him to catch up but at the same time their conversation never skipped a beat. Fairly good movie if you want to follow the series, I paid 14 bucks for the dvd and thank Darth’s stars I didn’t have to pay the displayed price of 20 bucks. I saved a little for the next installment, where more then likely we’re going to meet Luke and witness Anakin’s turn to the dark side.
