cant play DFX

Hope someone can help me, I just bought delta force extreme and it installed just fine but I,m not passing the video test.
I've got a 2 1\2 year old gateway system with windows xp and an "intel 82845G " video card. the video test says that my card does not support hardware and lightning and something else. I went to the intel support site and downloaded the latest driver and still no luck. I have no problem playing df1, df2, land warrior, tfd, bhd, and c-4, unfortunately I cannot play extereme.
How do I get a video card that will work with dfx? I have no clue how to proceed or where to go and I'm seriously bummed cause I cant wait to play this game.
I would be incredibly grateful and give 5 million thankyous to any one who could help me out with this!

hey Blue,my system is a gateway E-4000, with a2.40 gigahertz pentium 4 processor. I have 510 megabytes installed memory. 80.02 gigabytes usable hard drivecapacity with 57.48 gigabytes hard drive free space.
and the video card is intel 82845G graphics controller.
Need more info on system?
p.s. I'm kind of new to all the ins and outs of computers , forgive me if I sound ignorant

If you got the money I suggest seriously, invest in a better graphics card. Places like www.newegg.com have some great deals. My brother has an e-machine and he had to buy a newer card just to play Ravenshield on it. He has 128MB which he says works great.

thanks Charger. I went to that web site you mentioned and looked around,so many choices! I hate to spend a couple hundred on a new card and find out in a year or two that it will be out of date too. Cant find any card that mentions having HW-T&L though.
any suggestions on what might be a good card to get and what criteria a card needs to meet to keep up with the times for a couple more years? ( hopefully without spending 400 bucks)

Any card you buy is going to be outdated in a couple of years for this particular machine. The pci express slots are the the new standard - which will not necessarily depend on speed alone - but also the ability to share the work with another pci card.

Having said that - get yourself a good AGP card - like an 5200 - if you want it today - Wal-Mart sells that one - but a different (BFG) brand. I bought one to put on the wife's machine - she plays JO on it.

Just remember 2 things. AGP4X (your computer's specs) and the more memory - the better.

As an afterthought - some might recommend a good Radeon Card. I haven't used one of their cards since the 7000 series..lol. You might read the reviews on the 9600's and up.

using a nvidia fx5200 might be a painful experience when playing JO and other current titles from nova.
if you got enough money (100 - 200 EUR or USD) then try a nvidia fx5900 (xt) or the nvidia nx6600 (gt).
with these mentioned cards your displayed frames per second shouldnt drop below 20 fps - when run at 1024x768.

fx 5500 plays JO just fine. when everything is totaly maxedout then it gets a little video laggy. www.tigerdirect.com is another place to go.

He needs a 4X AGP - and a low profile 1.5V. This particular e-machine skimped on the extras... and only came with a 250W PowerSupply - which might trump the extra power hookup my 5900 Series needed.

The Wife's 5200 is running JO --> and although it is not the quality that my 6800 is producing - when the video is set to performance 'in game' - it is very playable.

DFX also seems a little less demanding.
