    logitec profiler

my logitec profiler doesnt work right since last friday.
i got to reinstall it every time i want to play after booting the computer.
installed the latest patch on winxp pro sp1.
the thing that isnt working is my macros - the most important on it LOL.
pushing a button that has assigned a macro will result in nothing.
its an logitech extreme 3d pro.

maybe some wanna know what macros:
    shift button on 9
    alt key on 2
    enter key on 1
    f key on hat left

Most everyone I know of has had problems with the Logitech Extreme 3d Pro, including myself. AND most everyone has dumped that stick for the More Reliable and Smoother,
    Logitech Freedom 2.4 Cordless.

Sorry that is the only advice/help I can offer.....

-I have had problems with profilers from every stick manufacturer when running any version of winxp. I've used logitech, ms, and saitek and all the software required me to use a sysadmin while flying in order to run. Also, I regularly use an ms sidewinder on xp home, and it sometimes clears the macros for no apparent reason.

-I've run the same three sticks on win2kpro with no problems whatsoever (except for the sysadmin thing). I use the 3d extreme pro for most of my flying for the last year, and on the win2k I have had absolutely no problems - repeat, absolutely no problems (msi mobo, 1.5g, athlon3kxp, geforce, raid card)

(I used a wingman cordless rumblepad for a while - its fun to fly with, but I think you lose a few milliseconds and for me that resulted in not being competetive. Can't speak for the other cordless sticks, but it turned me off to them (except for the fact that its nice and convenient if you want to kick back in easy chair while flying )

    - it looks like you are using simple macros - can't you just assign those buttons from within the c4 joystick remap ?

The Logitechs are the prefered stick of most CFS pilots, and most who had started with the corded Extreme have switched to the Cordless type. I am one who is going to convert in the very near future.
I loved my Extreme 3d pro, except after a month of operation it started acting up, not twisting to the right, hat switch doesnt respond, etc. You have to get out of the game completely, disconnect the stick and reconnect and hope all is alright. Not a great thing to have happen during a match! As soon as the funds allow, Im switching to the more reliable Cordless Logitech 2.4

Last time I remember the problem being with the setting in the profiler.

You need to set it to apply constent profile or something like that.

Only problem I ever had with that stick is that One time the axis quit responding and I had to take it back to best buy and get another one.

I since havent used the new one enought to tear it up...lol.

I might be playing some c4 here pretty soon. Just about to get tired of planet side for now. I am thinking about getting into world of warcraft though.

Are all the guys still around, or are they stuck on joint operations now?

no need to close the game and unplug the extreme 3d pro stick, i have had the axis problem 4 ever, you must use USB 2.0 plug for it, USB 1.1 works but buggy, and if any strage movement or axis probs happen, let the stick center itself, unplug for 1 second and plug back in, this fixes the problem for me and the fix lasts a good while.... it does recure though.....

I haven't had any major problems with it for about a year now, and I am on XP. Calabaration got messed up a little but that wasn't hard to fix.

I had an 'issue' with Logitech 3D pro and after replacing the stick 5 times I asked for help Via the Wingman site and Eventually Logitech Changed my stick -free of charge- to a Wingman Force 3D. This has a different profiler (V4.30 but needs to be updated to V4.40.) it is a very sensitive stick and altering the calibration in the profiler can cause some grief, but the best thing to do is not alter the calibration although you can change the settings.
    I hope this helps

    Wink

You are right Kill_Me changing joystick types was a big step, but I reckon it was worth it (after getting used to it) The only problem I have is that some of the buttons are a bit too close together and as a consicquence you have to be carful what actions you program into each button, but I still think its an excellent swap.
