    When they are red it's not a good sign. It helps you see what kind of connection you have to the game.

    oh ok seems like a sensless way seeing as you can see your ping times while in the game but oh well thanks...

    Ping time is just the time it takes to send and receive info from you to the server. There not the same thing. The color helps tell you if your losing some connection. You can have a short ping time and still have lots of cis if the server is running badly or theres a problem on your side. You may ping the server at 20 but lose lots of packets if theres a problem some where between you and the server. Or there may be a problem with a router or other hard ware on the players end. Flashing red shows there may be a problem while you play, green shows info coming in and out.
