you know how to edit direct draw surfaces
got a dxtex editor and want to play with some texures in bhd and C-4

No, never farted around with direct x textures, but you can try this guy "Clash (Jim Raynor)."
He hangs out @ df3net. He made a tutorial for BHD http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?s=8d60bf9c660863f30674b0cfd79e6734& threadid=112839

the dxtex tool will not save in bitmap form, only direct draw surface. so in order to edit an existing dds you can take a screen shot of it in dxtex, paste it in your graphics program, & crop it to size.
once you have edited the image, save it as bitmap & open it with dxtex & export it as a dxt5 with the same file name

Try this Deep Exploration its great for viewing/converting 3d files, but also it reads dds files and has the ability to save in bitmap and other 2d formats.
I uninstalled BHD, so I don't have any of those dds files to play with, -I'll just sit here and continue drinking my beer.
