it's been a long time since i seen this movie, & much speculation about just who was "deap throat"

any discussion or thoughts here?

Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein have always vowed to keep the identity of "Deap Throat" secret until his death.

John Dean, (White house Counsel who helped destroy Nixon) just recently claimed he had been told that "Deap Throat" is ill (maybe by "Deap Throat Jr."). So we may just find out his identity soon.

My Theory:
Nixon (like most older folks) was a techno' idiot. He had to employ a 15 year old kid to set up and operate all his high tech recording equipment. This kid had access to all the "tapes". And most likely he will outlive me, so I will never know.

-even the interns at the white house are usually college kids, so unlikely that its a 15 yr old kid. nixon was not stupid, and a very paranoid individual, so it would more likely have been a trusted employee.
-woodward is an anal sort of fellow, its also been speculated that they made up their source. if he's coming out with a book this could just be a ploy to get some attention and readership.
-spying was in its heyday and spying methods - especially countermeasures - were not very secure back then, while at the same time newer spying methods were coming out all the time (smaller and smaller chips), so its also possible that the source was someone on the outside (if the white house had been bugged, you can bet the secret service would never ever let that get out, even to this day.)

Not necessarily trusted, but close to Nixon, I was joking about the kid, and I tend to agree with you. My money is on Kissinger. It's no secret that there was little love between Kissinger & Nixon.

Kissinger's voice would not alter my guess, but it would explain where the name "Deep Throat" came from.
