Ok, I'm going on the assumption that this is for DFTFD and not C4:

To use paratroopers you will have to use TELEPORTS.

You will need to place from 1 to 31 AI, (place them on land way out near the red border so that they will not be seen nor will they try to attack during normal game play till they are called by the events) each one WILL have to be set to a seperate Group number. Now place an equal number of Teleport markers in your map, give them numbers that corrispond to the AI group numbers.

As you place each teleport marker on your map where you want it, in it's attributes set it's Z Value to a minimum of 100 meters (that's the left box, not the right). Also make sure that the pointer on the marker ( the straight line that sticks out) is pointing in the direction you want your paratrooper to face as he comes down.

You'll have to set up your events for each AI to teleport/parachute into the map - this can be a pain but the work is more than worth the effort! An example of an event would be:

    IF (statement)

If Group 1 enters Area 1

    THEN (actions)

Teleport Group 14 to marker 14
Teleport Group 15 to marker 15
Teleport Group 16 to marker 16

What happens is this, when the Blue Player enters Area Trigger 1, 3 ai's will be teleported to the corrisponding marker numbers - this will take approx 2 to 3 seconds (it's a delay in the game, sorry but that's how it is) and if their markers were set to a z value of 100 meters or more, then they'll parachute down to the map.

Can you please explain your second problem a little more, elaborate? I'm not exactly sure how do you mean, do you mean the SubGoals and winning them or the final Win or Lose Goal where Red or Blue wins the map?

I'm sure Edward will also be willing to help you with this, I'll try to answer as soon as possible, I moderate the Map Editing Forum over at http://www.DFArena.com/Forums and stop by to help Edward out here from time to time too.

In setting up for the end of game (EXFIL - a stupid term created by the military to be the counter part of INFILTRATION just like Tactical Movement to the Rear aka RETREAT! LOL) you need to make sure that your SUB GOALS are set up in the events.

First make sure that you list your subgoals in the GENERAL INFORMATION WINDOW, both for WIN and for LOSE.

Then, as you place your items in your map at each goal area, in your events, set up the event something like this:

    If Group 10 All Destroyed
    Then SubGoal 1 Won

Group 10 could be a something in your first target area. Make SURE that you select the SUBGOAL from the drop down window that shows the SG that you listed on the general info window, this way when it's won, it will turn green. Do this for all of your goals (you can only have 4 total), and even for the lose goal.

Then in the final event to show that the game is won or lost:

    If EVENT 5 and
    if EVENT 6 and
    if EVENT 7 and
    if EVENT 8 are completed

    THEN: Blue Win

    Or for loss:

    If Event 9 is completed
    THEN: Red Win

In listing the events for the subgoals in this one event, this tells the computer that when all the goals are completed, it is then to show that the game is won - or lost ..

This is just a quickie, I don't have time to make a more elaborate description.

This may help simplify your AI and Teleport Marker setup as well as having the Events predone for you - you just need to fill in the blanks...

Read This Post - There's a zip file included in it

No, it wasn't moved, the DFArena.com at that time went down as and all of the posts in Map Editing were lost. DFArena is now open again - THE FULL SITE - under new management and I'll try to find that file and upload it to the powers that be here at CPD so that it will be available again.

I'm really sorry about that, this was something that happened that was out of my control
