I havent played in several months and went to start up the game. The "single player" and "multipayer" selctions are not accessible. Greyed out. I can change pilots, quick setup, etc. Am i just stupid?

sorry, brand spanking new to this site. was thinking it was only Commanche4 stuff. I bookmarked it on that page and it stuck in my mind. Anyway, I got tired of fighting ti and re-installed over itself. Now it works. Thanks for the reply anyway. Maybe see yas.......

Hmmm, maybe try putting in the game cd!
"Insofucious say: The day is only long when life is short!"
Nah, that wasnt it. Who knows what it was, it just worked after I installed it over the old game. Probaly some file corrupted during the inevitable near daily MS OS crash. Anyway it works now. I though i may have forgotten to load a pilot or select a mission or something like that. Hadnt payed it in quite a few months. Tks again........
Same thing happend to me. I could play off the drive i installed off of, but if i tried to play with the disk on my other drive i got the same blocked out options you did. only game this happens with.
You'll get the blocked out options because the INI file points the game to look at the installation driver letter and not to search other drives. The DF series will do this also as will some other games that I have - or they'll tell me to put the cd in the specified drive they want it in.
i wondered why i had to argue with my pc on that...Originally posted by ArcticWolf

i usually use a fixed executable that does not require i put in the cd, but is there an .ini file for C4 where you can just change the drive id ?
i don't see one

Depends on the version of windows that you are using, I may have errored in this. I have Win2k and it doesn't show one listed in my machine, course it could be in the C4.CD file but as of yet I have no way to examine it.Originally posted by Rüstinsk

Most probable recourse is that it's listed in the Registry though.
Sorry for the possible misleading info.
IF you have more than on CD player (or dvd or cd r/w drive) and you want to switch and use a different one than you normally use to play C4, simply go to your main C4 folder, look for the file called C4.CD, open this with notepad and change the driver letter to the CD Drive you want to use and then save it. That's all there's to it.
