November 24, 2003 - The tactical, team-based shooter genre has been a tough nut to crack lately. Rainbow Six 3 has gotten a lot of attention, and the recently released console version has been getting a lot of traffic as well. Attention to detail is more important than ever, and simple name recognition won't get the job done. Black Hawk Down: Team Sabre has made some significant improvements over its predecessor both in single player and multiplayer, after listening to the community and taking some notes.

Team Sabre takes place in two very different locales; the first section of the game is in Columbia, and the second section takes place in Iran. There's no story connection between the two--just two standalone campaigns. It's set in the near future and adds three new weapons to the arsenal: the Heckler & Koch G3, G36, and PSG1 (the last of which Metal Gear Solid fans should be familiar with). These are available in single player and multiplayer, although we didn't have the opportunity to test those specific weapons in-game. You also use some new vehicles including an inflatable motorboat and a VBL, which is a French amphibious personnel carrier.
