v1.03
-----
* General Release - General Release Version.
v0.03
-----
* Beta Release
Features:
=========
The BIN Editor will allow you to update or create BIN files
for use with Delta Force Black Hawk Down mission files.
You can edit the VARIABLES.INI file to include the information
for other Novalogic games as well.
What to DO:
===========
A Group(or section of interest) has to be added first.
Once that has been done, you now select a Variable that is for that group.
Some variables have a Numerical ID associated with them. If thats the case,
a dialog box will be available to assign a number to the variable.
Groups can be Added to the list or removed from the list.
(More groups can be added to the INI. That will be discussed
in the Updating INI section below)
Item can be Added, Deleted and Updated. No information
is store in the Item until the Update button is click.
This gives you a chance to undo anything that was a mistake
before committing the information to the item.
When an item is created however, it will be associated with
the current selected Group and Variable. This information
can be change and Text can be add before the Update is used.
Groups can not be removed from the list if there are Items
that are part of the group. The individual items would
have to be deleted or reassigned to another group before
the group can be removed.
All items entered will be reordered at save time to get
the groups sorted properly for processing.
Save files will be in the BIN format and can be used directly
with the game. BIN files MUST be named the same as the Game
BMS file or it will not work properly.
The Menu contains options to Open an Existing file or Create a NEW one.
New clears any current information to allow you to start from scratch.
Update INI File:
================
The Variables.INI file was created to help with the ever changing
world of Novalogic. Should you find that you need additional
Groups or Variables for a Group, simple open the Variables.INI
file and Edit or Add information as you need.
Group or Sections are enclosed with [ ]
Each group needs to know what Type of information the variables
will be. These are identified in the file with a Type= line.
1 Type per Group please. The values that the type MUST be set
to has to be either Numerical or NonNumerical
Numerical meaning that each Variable will have an ID with it
such as 000 or 001, etc.
NonNumerical meaning that it doesn't contain any ID and only
1 of the variable is used per BIN file.
Finally the Variables themself that the Group has for them.
These are identified with the Var= prefix. A group can have
as many variables as necessary associated with them.
The default INI file was created based on the information
contained in ALL of the BIN files that comes with the STOCK
Delta Force Black Hawk Down game.
If you do update you INI, please share them with the rest of
DF community. You can post the information on the NovaSheep
web site forum.
Trouble Shooting:
=================
The program creates a log file in the directory where
the program is located called BinEditor.txt in the
event of an error. This file is used to provide
information about the conversion and my be necessary
should you have a problem with a conversion.
Should you get an error message stating "Wrong version of run-time DLL",
you will need the following files:
MSVBVM60.zip
This file can be found in downloads section of the web site.
