AE for C4 verson 2

The biggest complaint I hear is about no counts, if you play in a verson 2 server they are almost none. Some times theres 1 here or there but since it scores splash damage you get very few, The trade off is you lose points for crashing. And you don't have to crash for the server to think you did. Mabe If Inso was willing to put out AE for verson 2 that would solve alot of players issues with the scoring. If it could be set to take a players health to 3H instead of blowing up even better. But any way Inso would make it I am sure would please most of the c4 players.:dance:

I did do a beta ae for v2 and also for the demo. But to be honest with you I still believe in what I said with regards to the retiring of ae for v15. Forget about trying to force ppl to be honest and pick a better class of ppl to be around! I do realize that hosting a public server makes this an impossiable task at best and Ill be the first in line to agree that private servers usually get boring fast. Half the fun of flyin for me was teachin rookies the ropes! Its unfortunate that after all the BS and time, ppl persist with this crap. Ok enough babble I know "stfu and tell us what we wanna hear already!"

Working on a few things with Bluetiereign tonight we discovered a bug in the orginal versions of AE which you can read in the post on that thread topic. Once I figure out how to deal with that issue I will go from there. Yes I will release a V2 AE. I dont spend even close to the same amount of time working on this anymore so dont look for it real quick. Im guessing a month maybe two, most of it will depend on the involment of others for a better run at testing. At the moment I am thinking a version which changes the health of the 8h player to a 1h as oppose to a 3h. My reasoning behind this is that the 8h changed to 3h player will still have 999 live cannon rounds instead of the 500 of a normal 3h this was also the reason ae for v15 was never changed. I am also going to try to encompass both versions of c4 and repair the current known bugs into one verision that will work correctly across the board. As all I fly now are coop's it makes no difference to me how it gets done, find the voice of the ppl that it effects and let me know how it needs to be. If you have any thoughts to share on any of this please feel free.

A server is up.

Makes for a different game. Now most of the previous "version 1 no-counts" now count.

Well The efam bug doen't work, and I couldn't force no counts. Some players are still able to straf out 28 stingers. So I think This will help alot. Some of us are going to need learn new tactics. But any one that complains about no counts or players being 8H should like this. Players used to Come and get it should be pleased. I had the normal amout of lost points for crashes that didn't happen I expect on verson 2. Some of that is how I play I think. So I say thumbs up. I would fly this before come and get it. And it gives me some new tactics to work on. :baddevil:

I dont really know what to say but, i am sure that alot of ppl will like this.

I aint that good at the game yet anyway. But I am not real found of the nc issue either.

Flew the new version last night for the first time..It was great! Nice work INSO!! I did get some pretty big Ci's and some NC's, but nothing like the the public servers with v15. I think that when this version gets tuned all the way, it will be the game to play. I'm glad there are still those who give a S*** about this game and take time to overcome all the BS "others" try to bring in. Again, Great work INSO.. Nice to fly with you guys last night!! Where it's at:

AE is up and running on a v2 server (Ver2 w/AE) and seems to be doing fine so far.

I made two changes so far in how AE functions.
1) Players joining at 8h are no longer killed, they are now set to a 1h. This also servs as a very nice advanced mode in public play. I spent most of the day flyin 1h and found it quite fun and good for sharpening the skills again.

2) I readdressed the efam bug as well. Finding that although the old version did eleminate the use of the last 16 stingers it also allowed for the first 12 to be fired with the bay doors closed. Hence still reducing the radar sig of the helo. I decided to change that to redering ALL missles on board useless when the efam bug is used. So all ALL missles are dud's if you use the efam bug.


Where its going:

I still plan to do two more things that are not yet done, and may add a few more to the list when I have time to think about it.

1) Have the server identify it self in the nova lobby as a V2 server running AE.
2) Have a in game message sent to all players when a player uses the efam bug or enters at 8h so they may inform those doing it on accident.



I may do a few other things as well, I have not decided, but will keep you posted of the proress here. For those ready to ask, I am hoping to have this done and posted sometime between now and thanksgiving, which is a little less then I stated before.

It's an improvement I think BUT gonna have to do two things tho. Get into the habit of 1) hitting the spacebar when I'am close to the ground because if you don't you get penalized.2) type resetgames instead of crashing when invisble.Thx

for many months LMB has been inactive mostly due to the fact that poor scorekeeping has been an aggrivation and the game should be fun!!!! well i tested the v2 server out to my own personal limits (20 hrs in 2 days lmao) and had a blast the whole time (even after inso got his stick hooked up ) !!!!!! I see no reason why all servers wouldnt run this v2 when the patch /prog is released . iIn the 20 hrs that i tested i personaly had only several dbl whammies and not a single nc .
NCS seem to be one of the biggest reasons new players bail and even the seasoned players( some of the best ones) and the game is at the edge of failure i think v2 ae will bring it back and lmb will be there to help . Fairplay is in the best interest of all and thank you inso for your hard work inthis as well as the fun that i have had .
also i went into a 1.5 server and had like 10 ncs on o player alone !!! i believe that with this ae the lobby should be full of servers before you know it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully this will afford the oppertunity to finally promote a standard in the competitive community via the server ops all running the same version of the game.

That will also save newplayers from a lot of confusion and frustration.

I just put the next version of AE up on the server for testing. I found an issue in the way the efam fix was dealing with rendering missles unusable. It actually was voiding all missles for anyone that flew without efams bug or no bug!! LMAO Guess it's a good thing its not posted for DL yet!!!! So let that be a lesson to all those in a hurry to get, relax and when its done itll be there. BUT.... Due to the way that the server handles efams I was however forced to make it function in a way that is slightly less then what I had hoped for. If you load out from the farp without efams your fine. But, if you load out with efams you CAN NOT drop them until you have fired atleast 2 missles. It does not matter what kind of missles or what your load out config is, it only matters that you fire two missles before you dump your efams. If you do not it will render them all usless.


Breifly here's why, when you drop your efams all the missles which where carried in them should become void, but they do not IE: the bug, so I forced it to test if the efams exsisted, and when they dont is there a full load? If they do not exsist and load out is full then kill them all the bug was used. Hence the firing of 2 missles, once you fire off 2 missles your load is no longer full and when you drop at that point the server then voids the rest. Very odd I know but thats how it works. Set at zero fired (how I had it before) left all missles voided anytime efams were not carried.


Not really sure how this is giong to go over with the masses but the other 3 options currently are, 1) Dont do anything about the efam bug 2) leave it as it was allowing for the 12 live missles to be fired with the bay doors closed. 3) Force the baydoors open and keep them open when the bug is used. If I find another way to deal with this Ill post it here. Aside from the update on the efam's, I have added the display message informing players in the game when the server changes the health of a 8h player to 1h. I also added the ability to disable the message's incase someone dosnt like them, or just by chance someone wants to run a 1h (advanced) server. I also added a a display message for the efam bug letting others know who's packin dud's!!! :-)


I am going to run this version on the server for a few days and see how it holds up and make sure there are no other issues. While that is going on I will be working on a way for v2/ae server to be idetified in the lobby, and trying to find a better solution to the efam bug. For those of you in a hurry, the best way for anyone to help is to get in the server and pound the hell out of it. That will speed up testing and repairs as needed. The more pilots the better, as higher numbers seem to cause bigger issues. So if you want it sooner, when you turn on your puter to go flyin for 2 hours every night, start flying in it!!!! Yes I do realize that Im asking you to put up your own flight time to help, and to fly in a server that potentially is buggy or may have issues while ae is being developed. But you need to realize that I am also putting in my own time, for a game which I dont fly publically any more!!! I am not doing this for me...........................

Forgot to mention!!! The efam messages are counted for each player sepertly and the server will auto punt you after 6 times. I am thinking of making this number adjustable and it already has an on/off by disabling the messages. Am also thinking of doing the same for health messages.

Hey inso, I am a little curious about the 1h, cause i tried it a long time ago and there was no discernable difference between 1h and 3h. has this changed in version 2 ?

Hey ws, I think your refering to the advance mode and yes your correct in that advanced and normal are both 3h in TDM and DM not sure about coop. I believe the only difference in multi-games with advanced is for a coop where the AI are ummm smarter. lol Far as I know v2 works the same. I am stating pilots are changed to 1h because I am changing there health to 33% of that for a 3h.

Hey Wiper i have been flying at 8h then changing back to 3h while I fly the server. When I fly at 8h AE changes my health to 1h I see it on the health bar. And yes theres a major diff in how many hits i can take. One good hit at 1h and your dead.

Last night (with some very appreciated help from pitfighter and some very patient players) I worked on resolving some more issues with the messaging and autopunt. I just put the lastest update on the server for testing, which includes health messages, efam messages and auto punt options for both. DO NOT FORGET, you MUST fire 2 missles before dropping your efams, or load without them from the farp menu!!!

Health and efam messages are enabled and it will auto punt for either after (6) six messages. Each player is tracked seperatly as are the health and efam's and the current number the player is on is displayed in the message. Fill the house and let me know how it goes. If you keep it full Ill be done sooner!!!!!!!

Also I will be posting an image of the new interface later tonight or tommorrow so everyone can see what it will look like as everything in it has changed.

Hey JJ, no currently they are not logged in anyway except the number of times they attpemt it while in the server. I assumed that autopunting them after 3/6/9 (preset number of times before punting) attempts at getting it would be enough, as once there punted they also loose there score. Also realize JJ that player names are really easy to change, and the fact that AE will now tell you when/who its happening I suspect that those doing it wont be using the names we all know them by!!! As well tracking by ip can be usless in some cases (IE dynamic IP's from cable modems, dsl 's could be tracked as they dont change that often but dialup's are pretty much useless to log as they change at each re-connect)


A future thought may be an auto ban after x number of attempts but not sure it really is needed. Anyone care to comment on the need of an autoban?

Mabe setting it as a server op is the way to go, If that can't be done then I say don't do it. The stuff the player does like use the efam cheat wont work, And I want to be able to fly at 1H and crash to fix being invis even if i lose a point waiting to reload the game takes time from my play and makes the server have to send me all the info again to reset my game.

Hello, thanks for the offer Nuggetman. Ive been slowly working out a few kinks, and it appears that most are caused by the in game mess. being scrolled to let pilots know what and when. Everything thus far is ok with the 8h issue it will change 8h pilots to 1h (which is quite fun to fly) The efam patch seems to be functioning ok so far, remeber to fire atleast 3 missles before droping them or load without them from the farp. I added the cannon patch to the 8h portion as at 8h you get 999 rounds, only the first 500 will damage anything the other 499 are useless. I have a few more things to try with the messages but if it still causes issues Im just going to leave them out. I will have a server up this afternoon and for the most part thru the weekend. I am suppose to host a match tommorrow so that will be the tell tale sign as to the current progress and how its doing. Ill let you know how that goes.

I had planned on having this done by thanksgiving weekend but got side tracked helping a buddy work on something, to all I appologize for the delay.

If you need someone to beta the AE, I'll be happy to do so. I run a hot server on a Athlon 64 fx and have a 4.7meg down/750 up connection. SON has a practice scheduled this sunday and can run it through it's paces.

Ran for bout 2 hrs in it last night Inso.......had I think 2 NC's and about the same crashes....seems to run really nice Bud.....Like to add my thanks along with the rest of the <IFS>......appreciate the hard work!!!!:dance:
