I guess this is the age of the ground troops, less emphasis on aerial assault. The fashion statement is weaponry. Most conventional wars seem to be fought like this, send in the B-52’s then the Marines…
Oh Comanche, Oh Comanche oh where have you gone…;)

The age of no helos
Well CHARGER, it may not be the end of the Air stuff, look at Australia.
They bought the Eurocopter Aussie Tiger light Recon attack helo, for a special reason, not just to have one
They bought the new Wedgetail AWACS/AEW aicraft. They will electrinically link this in with the Aussie based and built " JORN" {Joint{USA} Over the Horizon radar.
"JINDALEE" a massive array tracks anything, I mean anything out to 2000 Km, plus buying" Global Hawk", now they will be ALL linked in!!
Add to that "Airborne Laser" platforms recently tested {and did very well indeed}, and then the Satelites, example Australia is the key electronic messenger and snooper for the US Sub Fleet, and Nuc Missile stuff
they have recently been the only country along with the USA to have signed the Ballistic Missile Defence Shield.
But what if someone got ashore in OZ, {not likely in large numbers , prob Commnados etc,
YOU will need troops on the ground in vehicles fast and powerful enough to get them there, and they in turn will need Helo Recon /Attack support.
And what if they had to go to another S*it hole on earth to help the ludicrous UN .
We will still need "specailised Helos"
BUT read what I put above, remember Global Hawk in OZ will be an armed version too!!!
any good news there, yeah a bit for us Helo guys
