In your opinion, what is the BEST song ever?
Metallica- The Unforgiven II
Thats an easy 1 Best song ever is and always will be.
Like a Rolling Stone
BOB DYLAN
1965
To this day, the most stunning thing about "Like a Rolling Stone" is the abundance of precedent: the impressionist voltage of Dylan's language, the intensely personal accusation in his voice ("Ho-o-o-ow does it fe-e-e-el?"), the apocalyptic charge of Kooper's garage-gospel organ and Mike Bloomfield's stiletto-sharp spirals of Telecaster guitar, the defiant six-minute length of the June 16th master take. No other pop song has so thoroughly challenged and transformed the commercial laws and artistic conventions of its time, for all time.
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"
...I have to sing it to my daughter everynight so she can go to sleep. :smug:
Mississippi Queen - Leslie West, Mountain
or
Start Spangled Banner - Jimmy Hendrix
hmm
The "best" song is always open to interpretation; striking lyrics, political statements or kick ass acoustics, it is the song(s) that make you personally crank up the stereo in your car to MAX when you hear those first couple of cords that make it the best!
My fav's are:
The Hollies-Long Cool Woman(in a black dress)
Jimi Hendrix-Burning of the Midnight Lamp
The Rolling Stones-Gimme Shelter
Bob Dylan-Tangled up in Blue
There not fancy but man do they make me rock!LOL :LolLolLolLol:
I can agree with you watchtower...I can relate to Jimi Hendrix and it seems no matter how many times I might hear one of his songs on the radio I tend to allways crank it up...oh btw and I'm sure you knew this...it's "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" though I'm sure it could be an oil lamp... ;)
(Was just kidding on the "Twinkle" thingy...)
Yep, thanks, I edited it, LOL, thats what happens when you post from work  Im lucky I dont make more mistakes!(at work that is)

Of the 'currently playing' bands - Aerosmith and Rush (to me, at least) are icons.

Moody Blues for sure, I was a big Floyd head for years, kind of lost interest? PF Animals album still cracks me the hell up,though. Never really got into Led Zep, love early Who(anybody remember Boris the Spider?) and Jethro Tull(Locomotive Breath when your really smashed brings out the demons, lol). As I have AGED my listening has softened(as my hearing has), David Gray(dont laugh) cranks some serious lyrics, and refinding Van Morrison again in obscure albums/songs has been a blast. XM radio Top Tracks(46) for MEEEEEEE!!!!! :musicboohoo.gif:
anybody big Metallica fans?
