Q: Where can I download the TXP Terrain Pack for DF2C4med?
A: Try here (www.txp.df2.org/).

Q: What is the TXP Terrain Pack for DF2C4med?
A: It's a patch for adding the terrain files of the TXP terrain pack to the med.pff file in the DF2C4med folder, so that the TXP terrains will be visible inside the DF2C4med.

Q: What is DF2C4med?
A: It's a Comanche 4 styled mission editor for Delta Force 2 (Comanche 4 and Delta Force 2 are both games made by Novalogic). It's got a 3D wireframe mode, making it easier to set correct Z values for items being placed in maps for Delta Force 2. DF2C4med was made by TerraNova and can be downloaded from their web site (www.terranova-exp.com/).

Q: How do I install TXP Terrain Pack for DF2C4med?
A: Run the txp4df2c4med_101.exe installer and follow the instructions given, including selecting a destination folder identical to the folder where DF2C4med is located. It is advicable to let the installer make a backup of the med.pff in the DF2C4med folder.

Q: What is the c4pack.exe file also being installed to the DF2C4med folder?
A: It's the utility being used by the installer to add the terrain files of the TXP terrain pack to the med.pff file in the DF2C4med folder. If you want to, you can delete the c4pack.exe file after the installation is finished.

Q: What is the TXP terrain pack?
A: It's a set of 27 new terrains for Delta Force 2. Look here (www.checkpointdelta.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=1129) for more info.

Thx to MajorHeadache of TerraNova and Dr.Evil of the TAG squad, for making me understand how to convert the Delta Force 2 terrain files to a Comanche 4 format and adding them to the med.pff file.

Thx to Beowulf of the TAG squad for showing me how to make the scripts for the installer program.

Btw - a revised C4 mission editor help file, which will help you get started on using the 3D wireframe mode, is available for download at the Delta Force & Comanche 4 Resource Center, here (http://www.checkpointdelta.net/cgi-bin/db.cgi?db=file&uid=default&Game=C4&view_records=1&sb=1&so=ascend&ID=*&mh=100).

IMPORTANT:

Untill I've found out what's wrong with the installer, you'll need to accept the installer making a backup of the med.pff file. If not, you'll get an error message, and the installation will abort..... sry about that....:barfy:

Just to let you know that TXP has now got its own web page and forums (!), HERE (http://www.txp.df2.org/).

Please make a visit! :)

Also, the DF2C4med patch (i.e. TXP Terrain Pack for DF2C4med) has been updated to version 1.01. Here's the information about the fixes:

1.) Installer won't fail anymore if user refuses to let the installer make a backup of the med.pff file

2.) The C4 version of the pack.exe file (copied to the install folder and used during the installation) is now renamed to c4pack.exe, since if the user selected the DF2 folder as install folder, the DF2 version of the pack.exe file, already present in the DF2 folder, would be over-written by the C4 version. (The DF2 version of the pack.exe file is needed in the DF2 folder when installing the TXP and EXP terrain packages, or when using other utilities which uses the pack.exe file.)

If you've encountered any problems because of the limitations of the version 1.00 of the patch, please visit the TXP web site (and forums) as shown above, and we'll help you out there.
