I've got my BEFSR41 Linksys router set for port forwarding and np for people to join DFLW. BUT VON won't work. Tried forwarding UDP port 4660 for DirectX, but that doesn't work either. Is the only solution putting my server in front of my router? VON works fine when I do.

Doc,
We never did get VON to work, even without a router...
So Sabre Corps uses Roger Wilco and Team Speak to communicate online during games. (Team speak uses the least amount of resources, and there is no advertising.)
Roger Wilco - open port UDP 3782
Team Speak v1 - open ports TCP 8765 and UDP 8766
Team Speak v2 - open ports TCP 8767 and UDP 8768
Be sure you have the following ports open for your DFLW game:
UDP 17478 & UDP 7597
Also, be sure you have the following port open for DirectX - UDP 4660
If you insist on using VON, you may have to contact NovaLogic for any additional ports.
I hope this information helps...

Ladyhawke, thank you.
Actually VON works very well IF I put the server in front of the router.
Must be a port that's keeping it from working. Everything else works fine. I may experiment with some port ranges, see if it starts working.

Folks, I haven't had time to experiment much with other ports for VON to work behind my router; however, we continue to have good luck with VON as long as we have an independent server set up, that is, a server only, and not "serving and playing" on the same machine. (I'm sure this is old news to many of you.) But that's where I am with that..... DA
