Newbie here too - be sure to check out the IRC topic if you want a place to chat or idle in chat.

So I'm learning one of the most important things is the ability to strafe when getting shot at... and if you can use a rudder - like a fight stick that twists, it's very important for moves.

How long have you had the game?

I got mine a couple months ago but just started playing it more. It's really fun once you get used to the game style. It's like with other games you can make a bunch of kills and it's constant - and become repetitive. But with this Comanche 4 that one kill is a big reward esp. if you know the person you took down is pretty good at the game.

I got C4 a couple of weeks ago, not knowing for sure what I'd think of it. I couldn't get what I would call an objective opinion of the game from the regulars at simhq.com, who seem to think that a flight game sans 150-page user manual isn't "immersive" enough. Whatever.

I've stayed up several nights past midnight playing C4, so I'd say the immersion factor is definitely there. lol!

The battles in C4 are a lot scarier, in my opinion, than they are even in the EECvH sim, though I'm sure others would disagree (puts on flame-proof suit against simhq lurkers).

I haven't mastered evasion yet. I'm getting the hang of radar detection, but my flare control is still terrible, and I'm not nimble enough on the deck. But I work better with my wingman than I used to.:)

New pilots are the reason this game will carry-on. I love to hear from New pilots who thoroughly enjoy the game, as I do. Read the last line about wingmen, I am always on the Novaworld site hosting COOP's, and ALL are welcome. Well, not all, as long as u score a few kills and Don't wonder off into the ether, LOL. Hope all newbies keep coming back to see the next round of newbies, at which time you can welcome them to the C4 community. HAPPY FLYING.......:)

Do you all have instant messengers? It'd be a good way to contact each other and arrange coop games.

Have you ever used TeamSpeak?

It's free, takes up almost no bandwidth, and allows you to control channels within it and tons of stuff. Worth checking out - you can even whisper to other people - it's neat:

I think I'm going to have to practice a little more before I get brave enough to play in teams with real live people.

My "wingmen" are of the AI variety right now, so if I goof up, nobody knows about it except me. :D

That was my thinking at first.

I told the SAI guys on their server, "I think I"ll go play some DM so I don't hurt your team game with my newbieness." Their response was cooler than I thought, they said something like, "No, you should stick around here and play, it's the best way to learn, we were once just like you."

So you might be surprised how much more you learn by just diving in online and watching the pro's at work - try and mirror their movements, etc. :)

Once you feel the control and kill a pro, it makes for a very good feeling of accomplishment. :D
