does anyone know if a cable modem can be used on any outlet in the house or does it have to be the one put in when ordered .just wondering

Should be able to use any jack wired to that line -in. Cable Inet has no req. filter that I know of, usually the only filter in place is one that is used if you only have Inet and no tv subsrciption. Should be using RG6 coax and the less splits you have between you and the line in the better off you'll be.

when i bought this house it had cable in every room why i dont know .. all of the individual cables for every room come rite out of the cable box on the outside of the house like an octopus...im going to hook it up to see if it works ..got and outlet right next to the pc .if it works i can eliminate 50 ft of cat5 cable for my network to acces the net....THX
