Ok, so with the wait for BHD, I'm going back to playing C4 and to this date I haven't played it with a joystick.

Maybe because I never got it to work but I've been trying again and I'm getting frustrated.

I have an old Thrustmaster Flight Control System Mark 1. I'm running XP and I have the Joystick calibrated in XP and working properly. When I go into C4 and set it up for use the Joystick (I have both Mouse and Joystick checked) I get into the game and have a nightmare.

When the game starts, the Comanche is sitting on the pad rotating in circles. When I lift off, I'm still rotating in circles. If I push the HAT UP I go up in circles and if I push the HAT down I go down in circles. If I push the stick forward, the nose points down but I don't more forward, same for back and to the sides.

To sum it I can rotate around the take off point but that's it.

Any thoughts, or should I just stick to programming for C4 and DF?

This is low tech but does the joystick have the x axis and y axis toggles, and are they off center ?

Anthony,
that is the story of my life, viagra didn't even help... lol

Pac,
no X or Y toggles, also I have calibrated the joystick through the control panel and it seems to work on the test mode screen where you calibrate it.

Shadow,
I don't have an extra controller plugged in and unfortunitaly I don't have any extra USB ports. 1 is my WEBCAM and the other is my printer. I do however have an onboard game interface on the mother and 1 on my sound card. The joystick is plugged into the sound card.
I'll see if disabling one of them helps and let you guys know.
Other suggestions (or smartass comments) welcome.

Anthony... shame on you! They don't call him Pappy for nothing... :4:

Pappy,

You might want to contact Viper, as I think he has mastered just about every joystick on the maket. Just go to his website, then click on "E-mail the Viper" and explain the problem you're having. Here is the link: Viper's C4 Website (http://comanche4.50megs.com/)

Ok Thanks,

I think I already have Viper's place bookmarked. There aren't too many good C4 sites out there.

I checked the second joystick port that is onboard and that's disabled.

I sent an email off to Viper since I can't find a forum on his site.

I hope to see you guys in the skys!!!

If you have any other sticks, or Logitech apps hooked up You mite have a conflick. My wingman did the same thing. you go in the game and just spin in circles, I had a raider pro configed at the same time , but it wasnt pluged in. I ended up deleating it out. And Did a new install with the wingman and its worked since. Hope this helps

I know this is a little late and you may have fixed your problem. I remember having this problem with another stick in Apache. The problem is I can’t remember what the name of the joystick was and what the name of the file was that I had to get to fix it….but I’ll try it anyway and maybe you can go from there. Besides the driver for the stick I had to download another file that was for that purpose of stabilizing the Apache. Because my controller didn’t have the x and y toggles I was able to get a file that would correct that problem. It was a file that went into windows/system. I am sorry that I can’t give more information then that because it was a while ago on another long forgotten “closet bound” computer that may have an inch of dust inside it by now to even pull it out and check the HD. Maybe you can search for something like this for your brand of stick. Wish I could help more.

Charger,
the question I have for you is,
Did you calibrate your joystick through windows first but it still didn't work in the game?

I'll look to see if there is any new drivers out there though.

Yes. I calibrated it through windows and it did not work in the game..infact I used the same stick for a few other games and worked fine with them just not for the helicopter.
