View Full Version : How to dodge missles in latest version
Hi,
I played earlier version (1.008) on release of C4, missiles are pretty easy to dodge by moving sideways.
In later version (1.015), no matter how hard you try, missiles will hit you. It seems that your evassive maneuver will not afffect missiles' accuracy, only flares can affect. So there's no point to maneuver.
I still keep an earlier version on my hard drive to play custom mission, and a latest version to play online.
So no one knows how to dodge missile in 1.0.1.20? How did you manage to survive the missile storm in multiplayer?

One way to dodge missiles is you have to be strafing before they are shot at you, quickly turn toward the direction they are being fired from, strafe hard keeping the missiles in front of you, keep strafing and dispense flares. Or turn to face the direction they are coming from, strafe hard and dispense flares.
It's a good idea to use cover (hide behind buildings or tress) when you can, and fly at low altitudes, not high in the sky. For example, if you're trying to attack AAA or something like that, sneak around to a tree, or behind a hill or building, and pop up and shoot at the target and then go back down quickly, so if you are fired at, you are safe behind cover.

Game version V1.0.1.15 was the version required to play multiplayer, the first patched version played on line. Version V1.0.1.20 was the second game version released in the armed forces pack. Stingers track you in both versions it is not a matter of dodging stingers so they don't hit you, it is a matter of the way the game versions score points. V1.0.1.15 doesn't score splash damage kills as a point—meaning the last stinger to take health to 0 had physically hit the player and not just blowup near them to score a point, or the player died and no point was awarded.
V1.0.1.20 scores splash damage as a point when the player dies and also takes away points for crashes.
The game auto flairs, they deploy when ever stingers are tracking a player rather the player deploys them or not, by activating the button you deploy more flairs, and put out a bigger heat sig, in V1.0.1.15 spamming flairs lagged the server and caused more splash damage, in V1.0.1.20 it still lagged the server but the splash damage kills were scored as a point.
The game version is controlled server-side by the exe file in the game the server runs and the game exe files are exchangeable.
FINALLY, I found the best way to dodge missiles:
Moving sideways while DESCENDING!!!!!!!!!!!
Moving sideways alone does not guarantee 100% avoidance, but moving sideways while DESCENDING works pretty well for me.

Look at the dodge at 7:35. He did not use flares, he descends, and the missile is evaded.
