Well, as most of you are aware, the founder of CPD passed away on May 5th. It has been a very long week.

I had not been informed until I called Paul to find out how he had let the domain name expire. After the news, for 2 days, I was unable to react. Though many of you might not remember Sentinel\Anthony\Rustinsk... some of you will. To me, he was a fellow who taught me - a complete internet noob - everything from how to behave on forums to how to actually install a CMS and run a server. Even though he was younger than I am - he assumed the role of a mentor - and a fine one at that. After he had me trained, he (at least I believe) conveniently claimed he had contracted the CRS (Can't Remember S***) disease - and had me take care of the site. It was, and continues to be, a great honor.

So, this week, I was faced with several decisions. First and foremost was what to do with CPD - and the wealth of information, files, maps and terrains that she has. I could not justify watching what Paul started just vanish. I was able to renew the .com name, but for reasons including being able to move to better servers and honoring Paul's Memory, I thought we would move the site to a .net home. I discussed this first with Charger and then with Guardian (the behind the scenes genious for much of the orginal CPD coding) - and decided we would continue on this path. So, here we are.

There have been a couple of changes.

No longer will you have to be logged in just to view the forums. To post, yes... but not to read. We would like people to register, and appreciate the patronage, but accessing the information included on the site will no longer require you to be logged in.

The signing up process will be easier. No longer will you be required to have someone vouch for you. Steps will still be taken to prevent bots from taking over the forums, but this process will be made less painful.

These changes are completed. Please email me with any concerns you might have.

Thank you to those of you who dropped in to sign Paul's Guest Book at Legacy.com. It was uplifting to see your signatures.

Well, I guess that is it. CPD is up and running.. Thanks for your support . Let's honor Paul with civil and enjoyable conversation.

Its good to have CPD back and running, when I started playing C4 this was THE site for me to find information, tips and advise...and still is! We will keep Pauls memory alive here, by posting and having constructive discussions. Kudos to Blue and staff for the fine job of maintaining and keeping CPD going!:waving.gif:

From all of CFS: Congrats for getting CPD back on-line and condolences to Paul's family and friends. It's always a sad day when we hear of the loss of one of our own, but I'm sure Paul's gettin' the games ready for us, so we can start again... when we all get there.

Wish the Best for you and CPD.

Well its took me a week to log in, really didn't know what to say after blue tracked me down via the phone and regreatably informed me of the bad news, a little history for you guys.

one day a long time ago i bought a new PC a top of the line 1g processor 512meg hard drive etc not even good for email today.......anyway i seen a delta force game df2 i think and thought it looked like fun installed it when i got home and commenced to play the solo missions,

my kid who was 14 at the time informed me that i could play on line ???? online with who???? so after a quick lesson i was up and running... after a week or 2 :) i meet up with a few guys in a realm called Random coops and played with a fellow called Rustinski who buy the way is the founder of what we know as checkpoint delta...

during this time we became very good friends and spent many an hour testing maps he made or had sent to him. i would get home from work and check email there would be a note ,,, hutch jump on line tonight i got a bunch of new maps to test.

2 yrs ago while in california we met up while i stopped there overnight and enjoyed the friendship we started years before.. after a few beers a horde of stories over supper we shook hands and departed......

it truly broke my heart to find out he's no longer going to be online with us... let his hours of work and dedication and legacy live on thru this site, and remember we would have not met if not for him.

Hello Gentlemen, Firstly let me send my most sincere condolences to Pauls Family, I was shocked, when I found out, even though I didn't know him.
Checkpoint Delta was my first point of contact with Comanche 4, and it was through this site that I eventually joined [FWD] as Widowmaker, when I later changed my squad and my name to Phaser=FUN= I found myself making maps, and recieved a lot of help via this site from Avenger, Watchtower and R~A~B.
This community would be at a great loss if Checkpoint Dellta was lost. Blue... you have made a great effort and I am sure you will be rewarded for your troubles. I will send you a coconut at Christmas! (just dont hold your breath!)
