Wildman Joint Ops improved the terrains textures like night and day. They use more detail files and let you use close up detail images such as rock croppings to look just like the detail file does. How ever you can assign those textures to the area you want them instead of them tiling across the whole terrain. The over all lay out works the same. The terrains use auto foliage like BHD.
That`s right m8.You have the ability with jo & dfx to place the detail image where it should be,ie,If a part of your colour map is mean`t to be rock for instance, then you can place the detail / bump image of any particular rock image below the rock colour on your colour map.You do this by making a detail blend map(d1.tga)which the engine uses/reads to place the detail image in the correct place.
You also have the option of using up to three detail images on any one terrain, usually, grass, sand or rock....on the snowy terrains above I only utilised two of the detail images,ie,snow and rock.....It`s all good fun when you get into it,very similar to bhd just slightly more involved/complex but not that difficult.
Anyway.As I mentioned.....If you need any help ,just holler....l8er;)
