Two pilots today cannot log into C4 server page... all game funciotns work fine but when they click multiplayer and join game the following error message comes up:
ERROR: the integrated browser is not recieving a response from NOVA, please exit screen and try again.
No PC changes have occured to their PC's, one pilot was on today , and several hours later recieved this message and couldnt join......
any ideas? One reloaded the game completely, cleaned out all files and did a fresh install with all the usual updates(both are vets..so its not a newbie issue)

I had the same problem, didn't have time to mess with it. About an hour later I got in with no problems. NOVA

I have since saturday also the same problem here.
Members our squad had only temporarily this error-screen.
After a reboot they could come in.

Reboots are not helping. We have reset modems, routers, loaded and unloaded the game, and yet it continues. When this began, "testmynet" would not work either. Now it's fine, but the game is still down. It now says the "page cannot be displayed", which is a change from yesterday's error notices.

I get still this error message now. Any idea to resolve this…?
I can not use multiplayer too.
I change the NETstartup file with
original, but this do not help me
to connect.

Make sure a windows update didn't change your firewall settings. Chech and make sure c4 is permitted and I would check the router(if you use one) settings have not been changed. The computer gremlns at microsoft (I guess)sometime change these for no good reason. If it won't connect let me know. It has to be a personal computer or network problem. I haven't heard not heard of a c4 bug.

Couldn't get a response from Nova either... put the updated ibrowse.dll in my folder and went straight in.

Seems like I remeber some trouble after people were doing the nova c4 update offered on their website. If you did the c4 update instead of the general security update for all nova games( which is the ibrowse.dll file) you might try uninstalling again and just replace the ibrowse and don't do the nova c4 update. Instead do the 1.5 to 2.0 fix offerewd here on CPD which if I'm not mistaken is the no cd fix too. You can also put in the nova bypass start.htm if you don't want to log in to nova while your at it.

I don't know if anybody else has this issue, but even with my machine, my firewall is sometimes very slow in telling me that a program is asking to get on the net - or doesn't even bother to tell me it's blocking it from getting on. I have also inadvertantly put my firewall in 'stealth mode' (the default) before - which hides some of the ip - and not be able to communicate with a server or two. Second Life servers won't let you log in like that.
If a person is using a program like 'peer guardian' while downloading stuff - that will also block some addresses. Try allowing HTTP first - then check the log to see if Novalogic's Server is being blocked.
One thing I do have to do with this router, that I didn't with the other - but just with hosting - is give my computer a static NAT before going on.
That is about all I have. I connected fine, so I know it is working.
You might try doing a system restore to a point before you started having problems. If it's a setting that has been changed on your PC that should fix it.

I just got an email form one of the two with the issue:
I have tried the stock v15, including loading the CD and using the stock Ibrowse. I have tried the V20 with the no cd, start by-pass, and new Ibrouse. I even took my thumb drive (with the game already on it), which I had been using as my main game drive until a few weeks ago, and started the game from it. It won't let me in either. I took the that drive and stuck it in my lap top (as I have done before) and I cannot get in with my lap top either. I have tried Cable to PC, no router.... and then cable to router, to PC, with no changes. All the errors are the same regardless of the PC I use, or the version of the game used. I even thought about the MS update issues, and tried to get the game running on the laptop, before it was updated.. it made no difference. There is some stupid ass setting ..somewhere that's blocking it. If I had the nova GAME page IP, I could ping or trace it and see where the failure is, but then with my luck maybe not.

Blue if your joining through Novaworld it will not display your pilot name so you can't CFS with no pilot name displayed. LOL You must use nova bypass for your pilot name to show up.

Yeah, well, I think CFS is skeered of me. :Smile J-k:
Seriously though, here is a thought. Nova makes enemies (with their uncompromising stance on lack of support and updates ) so they may have been the victims of some idiots resorting to a ddos attack or something - and may s-l-o-w-l-y opening up their ports to everyone joining to play - not attack. A webhost hosting a site I run did this when they were attacked.

My IP was changed now by my ISP-support ( i have a static IP).
After that i can join again ! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif
I had no changes made in the software - only my IP changes ...!
The packet-log shows that my connection (with the old IP) was refused from Novaworld.
Many thanks for your help !

Well what do you know. It looks like Nova does ban cheaters IPs.

You have to know most european ISPs always give a new IP after relogging in. Same happens after a simple reboot of windows and the problem has been fixed to some of these pilots. Others, like Ghost=FUN= and Zigmaz=FUN=, get a static IP and first have to contact their ISP for asking to get a new IP. I´m crossing my fingers for them.
If you have a DSL connection you should be able to reset your IP by unplugging the power to your modem. Wait about a minute and plug it back in. Unless you have a static IP. I know with my ISP you would have to request that and they charge you extra for it. So most DSL users should have a dynamic IP.
Cable connections are a little harder. You would have to contact your ISP and have them change the IP from there end in most cases. I've never had a cable connection but I wouldn't think they would complain to much about changing it.

From the novalogic technical personal they do not ban IP Addresses. They claim there is no hacks in c4 to warrant it. Hahahahaha! :LolLolLolLol:

The issue was resolved today with the last pilot getting in tonight. A big kudos goes out to Nova Tech support(yes, Nova) who listened to our single pilots concern, and after several emails and contacts, reset the C4 servers today and corrected the issues. It seems they reset them last Saturday night and that started this whole mess.
Today, Nova put the concerns of a single pilot on the priority list, which helped build a feeling of goodwill with this pilot, this squad, and hopefully this C4 community.
So I guess it wasnt a "banned cheaters IP" issue after all.

I think it all started back in Dec. 06, you have to hand it to them, thats real good support, one in 6 yrs if they did do some thing. That guy back in Dec. has sent them an e-mail every week end and still no answer from them, he will be back this week end will see if he can get in.

Let us know if he still has the issue.
I gave a friend my extra C4 disc(from the Armed Forces pack) and he had to do the ibrowse.dll update to join a server(server page would show put couldnt join). That CD is already V.20(out of the box)and I know if you try to update that version using the old V.15 update from Nova it can cause issues.
It took 2-3 phone calls to Nova support and the same amount of emails but they did fix our issue.

Do you happen to know the new IPs for Nova. These aren't any good any more since Nova shifted their servers. Trying to help somebody with a connection problem and wanted to do a trace route to the server list to see if that could be his problem.
