I am very new to editing LW maps. I followed instructions on exporting the .bms file to the LW dir, but each player "is dead" once as soon as they join the map. As an experiment, I tried taking an existing TDM and saving it as a DM map and it did the same thing, but if I didn't change it to DM, it worked okay. Please tell me how to correct this. Thanks.

there are several reasons that can cause that.
for a quick answer, send the .mis file that you are having trouble with to anthony@checkpointdelta.net & copy ed@checkpointdelta.net
we'll get you an answer asap

I'm having sort of the same trouble. Players die immediately on entry and immediately on respawn. I get a ghw.txt file that's generated everytime someone tries to join the game.. If I delete this file, it is re-generated. This is a map I downloaded, and made some changes to... I would like to think this is not happening due to an intentional act by the original map-maker..... but that file looks awfully suspicious. No other map i've edited generates it.

It sounds like there maybe a conflict between the start markers - make sure they're all the same type. If you're changing a TDM to DM, make sure you remove ALL of the TDM markers and then install the DM starts - also make sure that in the General Information window that it's set for DM only and not for any other type of game.
Also, is this map in a custom terrain like from an Expansion Pack or other custom made? If so, others will have to have the exp pack or custom terrain installed - this will also cause problems.

AW, this map has always been a coop map. I edited it to cover a smaller area.. not so much running to get back to the objective. And we all have a copy of the map. But when we try to play multiplayer, we die as soon as we enter the game.

AW, you were correct... I found another start marker on that map a LONG WAYS from the original.....as soon as I removed it, the map would load.
Thanks for the help.

I ran into a similar problem with a co-op map... Players kept dying upon joining the mission. When I looked at the Z-values of the start markers, they were set at -0,100 to -0,200. I changed them all to 0,0 and it solved the problem.

So, you guys are saying that in a coop map you can have more than one player-start marker? Interesting... does the game start players at random markers? Is there a limit to how many you can have?

Yes
In order of placement (SS#)
No, but having more than 8 would be senseless (in a coop)
