This is just an idea for all non cheaters........
This is a selection from their site
"What it is
LogMeIn Hamachi is a zero-configuration virtual private networking (VPN) application.

In other words Hamachi is a program that allows you to arrange multiple computers into their own secure network just as if they were connected by a physical network cable.

Hamachi is fast, secure and simple. Its core version is also free.

What's in it for me?
Hamachi gives you LAN over the Internet.

Virtually any application that works over local/home networks can also be used over Hamachi networks.

Think - Windows File Sharing, iTunes, Remote Desktop, Remote Assistance or even gaming - all fully encrypted, authenticated and peer-to-peer.

Technology
Hamachi is a zero-configuration virtual private networking application with an open security architecture and NAT-to-NAT traversal capabilities.

Hamachi is the first application to mix seemingly unrelated networking technologies in one powerful package to deliver an unprecedented level of direct peer-to-peer connectivity. More ...

Security
Hamachi is secure. All Hamachi communications are encrypted and authenticated with industry-standard algorithms and protocols. Nobody will be able to see what two Hamachi peers are talking about. Not even us.

However what is equally important - Hamachi security architecture is completely open meaning that its detailed description is available to anyone interested for review and validation. More ...

Ease of Use
Great effort went into designing and polishing the Hamachi user interface. The result is sleek, simple and intuitive; yet still very functional. Everything you need, nothing you don't.

Hamachi software contains no spyware, bannerware or any other -ware unrelated to its purpose. And it never will"

I just thought that we could get a VPN over a LAN connection together and only allow the good guys in. if you want to know more go here (http://www.hamachi.cc/)

Avenger had found a way before he left to join a server strickly by IP addy, bypassing the Nova loggin screen all together. we had tested it, and it worked flawlessly on a home based server, and Im sure it wouldnt be an issue with a pay server. He did this so that if Nova ever pulled the plug, we could still play, just have to go a different route to the server. I would have to check to see if I still have the files and info for it....I dont know a solution to what you are suggesting, how would you define the "good guys?"....you allow some in, but alienate others I think would create a divide in the community. Having an "elite" group, or "secret society" could cause more damage than you would fix. I would be honored to be concidered to fly in a "cheat free" server, but would not stay long if a fellow gamer, not just a squad brother, that I knew was honest, wasnt allowed to play.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Watch
btw happy holidays Phaser(WM), its been good to be back in the servers and get killed by you, lol

I know some players are using Hamachi to play other Nova games. Joint Ops for example.

Kind of a sticky topic as players would use it to play pirated games. I have played C4 over Cali years ago when Die squad was looking for a way to play when nova would go down. It worked pretty well.

The pirate issue aside If you have a group of friends you game with. Programs like these may give you a less laggy server ie better connection in some cases as you don't have as many players sending information into a central location.

As for using Hamachi or any net working set up to by pass the game company set up will have little merit for the general community. Because there is no server list the average player knows to access so they can play.

When the time comes that Nova no longer has the server lobby. C4 will come to a close. There may be a few hard core players use something else but there will be no new players and most of the rest will just move on.

the IP thing Avenger created is already here on the CPD site: http://www.checkpointdelta.net/cgi-bin/load.cgi?c4ip.zip

Every year this time CFS celebrates its aniversary, and we say we hope Nova doesnt pull the plug, and so far, every year we are still around in the servers. Im sure that day will come, but as long as there are two pilots to kill each other and the server list is up, the games not dead. Yet.
