Getting error while installing

Can someone help?

I'm getting an error right before the game JOTR finishes installing on my computer....it reads as follows:

Feature: Minimum Install
Component: DefaultComponent
File: E:\jotr\data2.cab
Error: The request could not be performedbecause of an I/O device error


My game is a bit scratched up, is that the problem?
