Pilot name doesn't show

I've been away for a while and upon trying to get back, found I had to re-load C4 and start over. I've been able to get into games, but can't get my pilot name to show. Suggestions?

Make sure you have all the updates. Should be able to go to Change Pilot, you then have 4 selections for pilots. Be sure you select the pilot name you desire, then click OK.... let us know if it doesnt work. It has happened to me several times after a fresh reinstall, you may have to select pilot several times before it takes.

OK, Here's the reason for no name. I thought I knew but I wanted to make sure. I just tested and the same thing happened to me. I just signed in through novaworld and my name was blank. I tried my squad name and it has wildcard characters so I also tried my CPD name and I got the same results. I thought it could have been the wildcard (hex) characters, but it happens on both types. I'm not sure why but novaworld does not display pilot names for some reason. You need the novaworld bypass to get your pilot name to show for some reason. You can either use the bypass where you can go directly to lobby. It's not up for download anywhere that I could find. If you'll IM me I'll send it to you.

Yes the log in bypass does work. Had a player in my server earlier that had the same problem. I sent him a copy of the by log in by pass and he came back a few minutes later with his name showing fine. Thanks Redhawk for the info.

Since the bypass isn't up for download anywhere at the moment I'll add it to the download section on my site if anybody needs it.Covert Tactical Elite (http://www.cte-hq.com). It's also included in ZAKs C4ExP mod.

It's also included in the Player Manager. You can chose a custom one that is the login-bypass.

Hi, Guys Sorry to bring this topic back from the dead, But I'm Totally new to this game and so I'm having troubles with my Name not showing on the Mutiplayer. I bought my copy of C4 Through Steam the Version of the game is V1.0.1.20 and i registered to Novalogic using my CD key and what not. Do any of you guys know of an Update that will fix this. Since this is a Steam account i can't just put any update cause it will ask me for my Original CD.

I have been trying the links that you guys gave posted, but all are nonexsistant.

Oh and one more thing in the Multiplayer lobby there are 3 servers that start off with the Name ~EFA~ I see people in there most of the time bit i can never get in. I get a message that the host won't let me in. Are those 3 servers a Clan to which i need to be a member off to get access??

The EFA servers run a program that wont allow newbees in by blocking the standard player name "griffon"

Just make sure you are not using this name and it all should work fine!!

Just a shot in the dark, but have you tried the no-cd fixed exe here in the downloads section?

Yes i did, but no go, my Name still doesn't show up :(
I also changed my name from the standard Griffon but i guess since my name does not show up, the server still thinks im using Griffon as my name...lol

You must have the 2002 IBROWSE file installed... the others are no good.. Also check your player save file, in your C4 folder, and make sure you have no other name stuck in there... You can open it with notepad.. and should see a name in the left top corner after some letters and numbers... If it is wrong, then you need to go back to options and change the name and then hit ok.. before you go on... or use the Pilot Editor to change it... It should update to whatever name you're using.. if not IDK... If it's showing numbers on the player side.. then its got to be Ibrowse... if its server side, hit the enter key and they will go from numbers back to names..
Hawkeye is having this problem too... but not hard about anyone else, 'cept U..

do you mean v1.0.1.20 2002? The only one i patch i see that dates back to 2002 is the .15

If you have game version v1.0.1.20 you DO NOT UPDATE the game, it is already included in your game. If I were you after all the problems you have had, I would do a complete re-instal of the game, deleate the Nova comanche 4 folder and any files in it. Then re-install your v1.0.1.20 copy. Do not update the game, Go into game options make your player name change then check your name by logging into a server using the CD do not use the fixed .exe untill you get the name fixed. Once your name shows then you can use the fixed .exe, do not use the log in bypass.

I had this problem when i did a re-install a fews moths back the above steps fixed it for me.

I already Uninstalled and deleted the C4 folder, then installed it again. I don't have the CD. The game is in my Steam account all i do is download it to my system. So i'm guessing it's Steam that is giving me problems, But no biggie so i will be the only "nameless" person in the game that wont be able to get into the ~EFA~ servers....lol

So if you guys see a nameless person flying around that'll mostlikely be me lol
at least untill Nova/Steam gets a newer update or i get the Retail game CD package. *****THANK YOU GUYS***** for your help and I'll be seening you guys in the game.

We probably need to host the old ibrowse.dll in downloads.

In the meantime. Backup your ibrowse.dll (make it a rar file or something) and put this one in your folder.

Logging in and Server Listings look like crap, but you should be able to get in.

****THANK YOU TO EVERYONE**** that has helped me by giving me your input and the files that you guys have sent me.

Unfortunatly non of the files worked and my name still is not visable on the mutiplayer. Steam is the main reason why nothing has worked. So until hopfully Nova/Steam comes out with another update or I get the Retail CD package there is pretty much nothing i can do at this point.

Luckly I can still play on 2 or 3 of the 6 servers that are on the main lobby with no other problems. Thank You guys I totally appreciate your help you made this noob feel welcomed :icon_beer.gif: I'll be seeing you guys in game.
