Question:
For the few times I've actually used Shipyard Crane, I noticed that when the Crane support is destroyed, its falls down but the boom stay up in the air in its original position.
I have played other missions were I believe I saw the boom and support fell together to the ground.
I've looked though the editor and don't believe that an event would be the difference between it staying up and falling.
Anyone game to head bang with me about this issue so I don't have to do fifteen test missions to find the answer?
:eureka:

Pappy was the one that solved that - I believe- you might check his forums for the answer, it was so long ago I forgot now and I've been procrastinating in making maps for C4 :(

The issue with the crane came from using Raven's BMS converter and not mine. You will notice in the original mission with the the cranes at the dock, that there is a crane that doesn't have a base to it. Nova just left it out or accidentally deleted it. Anyway, no events are required for it to work right. I would however recommend that you copy the whole crane from that Nova Mission and paste it into your mission. That way you will be able to kept the heights right. I believe that is the key to the cranes destruction.
I hope this helps. If you are still having a problem with, you can send me your MIS file and I'll take a peek to see it something doesn't look right.

Well I spent a few days sorting though this problem. I extracted the mission C01M04 and played it several times and each time I targeted and fired on the crane top, it fell right to the ground, along with the support. I studied the items attributes and didn’t notice anything different to mine except that absolute height was checked. Thinking that would make a difference, it didn’t. I copied and pasted their crane to my map and still the top stayed up in the air. I will send you my mis, which you may get before reading this post and if you get the time Pappy, please take a look at it for me and maybe I’m over looking something.
I made note of the z value and made sure they were the same in both cases.

Ok, I've looked at it and sent you an email back.
The solution is that Both the Boom and the Supports MUST have the same X Y Z values. If any of them are different between the 2 pieces that animation doesn't work. Also make sure that both pieces are part of the same Target Camera Group.
Your 2 pieces where off just a bit. Also you might want to change the group they belong to if you want to be able to target them.
That should do it. Have fun!

Yes! It worked perfectly…
I know I get excited over minor stuff but I was so happy to see the boom fall to the ground. I did exactly what you said and it worked perfectly. Just to explain what was done for anyone else who runs into this problem I will post it here.
I set the base first and set the Z value (Height), wrote down all the X, Y and Z values from all the boxes and then set the boom and entered the exact values to it, only logical to set the base of the crane first to get the exact height. I noticed all the target camera groups were set to 0 so I left that at 0.
Pappy, once again your help is appreciated. I would have never figured that one out on my own that’s for sure.
Thanks again.:thumb:

Just an extra note, if you look at the original Novalogic with the 3 cranes, each crane has a different Target Camera Group.
So set the base and boom of 1 crane to 0 then continue to incriment the number for each one that you add.
O and good suggestion to place the base first, that is important.
