Howdy, have contemplated writing this for awhile. after reading several recent threads regarding cheating and/ or unfair gameplay in the different forums I figured I'd go ahead.
I've been playing all of the delta force games except joint operations for a few years now And really love all of them. However i never played online. Didnt think I would like it and was afraid I wouldnt be able to compete since I have limited time to play and "practice". 3 weeks ago I made the plunge and registered with nova world and decided to give it a try. Went on dfX first and the second night i tried BHD. Never made it more than 2-3 minutes on any game I joined and most of the time I was dead within seconds of joining.
enter game-die. there were quite a few times also when I would see an enemy within very close range and I would empty my magazine into their chest (20-30 rounds at nearly point blank range) they would stand there and then while I was reloading they would kill me with one or two shots. there was one guy that ran around with nothing but a knife, I could nail him with a rocket launcher and he would run at me at the speed of light and cut my head off.
needless to say my reaction after all this was " hell with it, this definately is not enjoyable" Have not gone on-line since. I'm not saying anybody was cheating. but I dont understand how you can shoot them 20 times from 5 feet away and they turn around and knife me to death!
I will continue to play single player and I'm working on my map making skills in the hopes that I can make some good sp maps to post and contribute to the community. but I am very discouraged with multi player.
before I totally say to hell with it, is there anywhere that I can go online and play on a somewhat level field where I might make it more than just a few seconds? Once again, I'm not accusing anyone of cheating, I may be just very inexperienced, I dont know.
I would love to hear any comments or suggestions you might have! and if you've made it this far in my post thanx for bearing with me as I've rambled on!:)
Thanx for listening, hope to hear something encouraging!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience in the multi player games. But unfortunatly there are far to many people out there that do cheat in the games. But I believe the majority are honest players. If you ever want to try BHD online again let me know. I'd be glad to help you out any time. Maybe give you some tips and tactics that could help. Playing multi player is allot different than single player. And the AI tends to be a little easier than an actual person. I remember all to well how it was to come in a server and die repeatedly when new. And most players could care less about helping. Personally I've always thought that helping the new players in the game is the only way to make a game last.

Some info would help to get you going.
First you need to understand some weapons are better than others when your new. In close up maps use the m60 or the 240 leave the saw alone.

The game has spawn amour, the player that just spawns has the amour for around 15 seconds as long as they don't fire. Try not to waist your time firing on them untill they shoot.

A qcb has a longer reach with a knife than any other class. A medic runs faster than the rest.

There is alot more than just this. But if you understand more about BHD it will help you play better.

Another important thing for multiplayer is to keep you pc clean of spyware, your connection can help you play better.

thanx RAB and Reaper, I've heard so many people talk about how good on line play is and I'd like to experience the good aspects of it. But dang it was just so frustrating! thanx for the tips reaper, and RAB-how did you manage to keep a good attitude when you first started and just die, die, die?
another quick question- is there some place I could read up on tips and tactics? I really appreciate your offer RAB, I'd like to try once more and would love to get some help from you but I feel kind of bad asking for too much as I dont really know anyway I can give much back to you all.

I've got a couple game FAQs I found on some other sites I could send you. It has some multi player tips in it. But what I like about them the most is it explains the strength of each player class and describes all the weapons.

It's definatly not easy to keep a positive attitude. It helps allot to find a group of friends to play with. When I started playing BHD I played with Reaper and a few other guys. They didn't really give me any breaks but they would atleast tell me what I was doing wrong as they were killing me. Which is what I'm offering you. A chance to get shot up while I tell you what your doing wrong. LOL

When I get back on my other PC I'll send you a PM with the game FAQs.

Hey monkeydog it's great to see someone wanting to play just a straight(old school) game and have fun doing it. Multiplayer is great fun , like RAB said it does help to find a group of friends or at least 1 or 2 dudes that are fun to play the game with. Try mixing it up a little also , unless you're strictly into DM or TDM , some CTF and KOTH can be a blast. Reaper said a lot to when he said understanding the game more will help you play better. To be honest with ya , i've been playing all these delta force games for many years and i'm terrible at it:duh: . You would all probably get a pretty good laugh watching me in a deathmatch game. You know what though , I love it , I love the feeling of maybe getting that dude thats been putting holes in me all night , just 1 time... There are alot of great servers out there, with alot of great maps to play in , you'll find something that will suit ya ,I guarantee it..:waving.gif:

Hey Doorway. I could use a good laugh. Why don't you stop by the server some time. The doors always open to anybody that wants to come in. The server name is Night Crew-NCS- and is in green letters. If you do a search for it put *night in the search box. That will pull it up. Oh yeah. After 7pm it's happy hour. BYOB though.
