In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

NEVER FORGET THE FALLEN !!!!!

A veterans day: Up at 5 iron my blues get into my car and drive to met my mates. We march up those steps of granite to a stone with names of our lost friends. Slowly lower our weapon barrel to point towards the ground. Cross our hands on the stock and bow our heads and guard those we have lost. Hours pass as people walk by and leave flowers at the base of the steps in tribute to our fallen. Out of the corner of my eye I watch as this young lad walks up to the steps and holds out his hand. I break my stare and see this hand open and reaching up to me. In this small and tiny hand I see a poppy, young eyes look up at me and I smile. A phrase I know moves my heart " May they never be forgotten".
