Duder.. any of the system configs you list would be overkill.
My current specs are:
-AMD64 3700+ - ASROCK K8S8X mb
-1gig 3200 DDR
-eVGA 6800GT 256
-Audigy2 ZS Platinum
-2x80gig Maxtor/8mb cache
I have yet to find an app or game that can bog me down - even on high settings. However, rendering with some programs still takes up to 5 minutes for the best of renders - and I haven't tried any animations.
At one time, I thought BF2 was going to do it... but found it was a memory leak. I would recommend dual harddrive though... keeping the pagefiles that XP uses on a different drive helps.
Whatever you decide... you are going to be waiting on the software to really use that setup. ( and not sloppy, memory leaking software.. )

planning on getting the 64 bit cinema4d.
What I have now takes hours somtimes days to render a single image.would like to have that time just a little shorter.
Had thought about the dual xeons but the fsb bus is pretty low.
Not sure as to how it would lower my times.Im sure some scene optimisations would help but still shouldn't take days for 800-900 mb scenes to render.heaven forbid if i want to move that scene around a little.Looks like a slide show.

I'm pretty jealous of Bluetiereign awesome configuration. I know I should have gone 64 but what I have does a pretty good job for now. My biggest issues are graphics, with a GeForce 5500 I can only run BF2 on low settings to get a good frame rate. I have 1 GB of dual memory so I haven't had much of a problem running most apps. Well good luck with what ever you get there duder.

Yeah I know what you mean there bro..just remember that the low-line equalizer for your cpu power cut off is important (LLQ). This way when your cpu overheats, the cutoff will keep it from overheating with all that extra hardware you'll be running. When you look for a new cpu and motherboard make sure they are compatible for a Power-Surge Emulator (PSE). I almost made that mistake when I bought mine. :wink1:

That is a load of BS. A 64bit has cool&quiet - and why would you want to emulate a power surge ?

hey blue - have you played c4 on your machine ? if so, how does the older code run on the 64 ? (do you get spurrious errors, etc ?)

Duder, duder, duder..don't tell me your using "cool&quite" - thats old technology and for the life of me can't understand why they reused it on the 64. Don't go messing with Wildman's head on that old crap...emulating is the key. If you beef up the quad-verter to about 15psu then you can overclock your mainboard and get at least another 150ds from the cpu. I power-locked my dual ram and my frames rates are like 27% better...Wildman, seriously don't listen to him...he thinks his systems all that and a bag of chips, best go with the "Surge-Kit" for around $130 its worth the effort. :agree.gif:

Yes, I've run C4 and there are no errors. The only complaint I have - is C4 REFUSES to allow me to run over 1024x768 resolution - even with a halfway decent video card. If I manually override it - boom... it will sysdump.

I think it depends on the card/driver. I know people that get that to work but I only got it to work on one machine, and it wasn't stable anyway.
