loaded up DFLW for some fun shootin and it tells me my swapfile is too small.
When I aim just higher than off center there is an image that looks like bldgs, weapon, tree etc skins all combined into 1 image smack dab in the middle of my screen.
Running w2k pro.Is there a way to fix this?

Yeah, quick fix...
Start/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/DFLW/UnInstall
Best I can do bro... :wink1:
I've heard of someone else having this problem but I can't remember what they did to fix it. If I can find the post again (not on this site) I'll hook you up. In the meantime I'm sure someone will be of more help.

I think it is an 2000/XP thing. I get the same error with TFD. I just ignore it and play anyway.

That sounds like a program error, DirectX error or Video Card error (boy, that narrows it down, huh ?)... or like it is showing you the video buffer (which you can disable in the bios).
I wonder if the two are related in your case. I get the swap file error, but the game plays just fine.

page file is 2.5gig that s/b way more than 140 mb like it asks for.
I cant play the game very well the jumbled image blocks out part of the screen, also when going thru the sphinx I look dn and at all turns black like the blink grouping isnt right.
I think it has somthing to do with the NTFS files system, cause ive played this on wtk with fat32 and it was ok.
also I've uninstalled videocard and reinstalled video card.Still the same.
Kind of hard to shoot someone when the skin for a cactus or bldg is blockingyour view.
grrrrrrrr

Im guessing you already did the usual (check for latest mobo drivers (esp vgart), check for latest video drivers, installed latest directx, ran update on win2k) ?

Page file or swap file, are they the same thing? Also the more RAM you have installed, the less in size your page/swap can be for better overall performance??

I've read its possible to eliminate swap file all together with more RAM, 512 and above. At least this is true with XP.
I have a separate drive just for the SWAP files...which is roughly 5GB partitioned from the main drive. I'm not sure how I arrived at 5GB, maybe heard it from someone whom I believed knows what their talking about, who knows.
The page file (called pagefile.sys) is a special file used by windows for holding temporary data which is swapped in and out of physical memory in order to provide a larger virtual memory set.
Swap File - In Windows environments, a hidden file used by the operating system for swapping.

2 hd's with page file on both or not on both same effect.on one or the other same effect.Reboot between changes.
all drivers updated.
Most odd.

Well when I said "Start/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/DFLW/UnInstall"...
Un-install being the last and final funtion...:wink1:

I guess you also tried all the video resolutions too, and playing with the bios video settings as well, and reverting to the original video driver as well, and all the permutations of above ? ( I did have one video (ati) that didn't wouldn't run on lnew drivers, but ran fine on the old ones (for c4). Also had a couple of video cards that only worked properly if the game was running in a different resolution than the desktop (also for c4 tho).

The only thing that I have not tried is formating and reinstalling windows.
I guess the final option for DFLW has arrived.....
Skeet anyone?

If I recall we had this similar problem in RavenShield where a certain gun you used the reticule would become a face. Partially due to DirectX and something to do with which version of graphics driver used. I had to revert back a few to get rid of the problem. I know you said you tried graphics but have you tried reverting back one or two versions? You probably have tried everything...
I'm almost certain its not due to NTFS buy just the fact that you've probably updated windows. Obviously your using SP2?

Ummm... HELLO ?! I think W2K is on something like SP4 now.
Anyway, Wildman....never did see whether you cut off the unnecessary video settings in your BIOS ... (shadowing... reserved addressing ).
