:ar15: Can you play through someone elses server without having to go through NL servers?
DF1 allowed you to type in an IP address to hook up to another computer playing on the internet w/o logging on to NL. You could even dial into another computers modem and play that way.
Can this be done with JOE? If not, why not?
CD key shouldn't be a problem as you can't even use 1 game for 2 players on a LAN System.

In addition to preventing those downloading the game from P2P networks from getting not only a free game - but free online gaming, it 'helps' with weeding out cheaters. I say 'helps'... because apparently even this and PB aren't stopping the cheaters.
BTW, the new EULA agreement with Novalogic includes this:
You may not attempt to play NovaWorld games on any server that is not controlled or authorized by NovaLogic, or its designees.
You may not create, use or provide any server emulator or other site where NovaWorld games may be played, and you will not post or distribute any utilities, emulators or other software tools related to NovaWorld without the express written permission of NovaLogic, Inc.
Novalogic is closing every possible door they can find to keep anyone but themselves from modifying their games - while other companies are opening them for their customers. Greedy and unwise, IMHO. They are consistently proving their inability to cope and be competitive.

Too true...
But locks are only for Honest people.
I just don't like being out of control of where I play...
Maybe someone will come up with a way to do this.
I didn't even like it when mom told me I couldn't play where I wanted to.
Now I buy a game for 50.00 bucks and they are telling me where I have to play.
Really fries my jaws!!!!

If you read that Agreement I posted - you will see that making such a utility is now illegal. That alone is not so much the problem as - distributing it. Despite deep dislike for Nova's basically unethical practices with their customers, supporters and fans - we still must try to avoid legal liability.
