still having a problem with exptdf. the text file that comes with exptdf says not to run it from within the task force dagger folder or you will lose the maps and get error messages. so at first i tried unzipping into a folder i set up in my documents and then when I ran the set up file it put everything into the tdf folder any ways and when i try to play the game only 3 new maps come up on the screen when i hit single player. ( if you look at the files there are about 50 bms files included with the expansion, just as the description at terranova says).
so next I did what you recomended. I downloaded the file from terranova onto my desktop. from there i extracted everything straight into my tdf folder. then i went into the tdf folder, found the exptdf icon, double click it and the install process begins. a couple minutes later i get message saying installation is complete however there where 56 errors. and when i try to play the game there is nothing new.
I went to the forums section at terra nova nd posted question about this and my post comes up at dfarena and a staff member replies that he isnt aware of any task force dagger expansion. at this point I,m very confused and am thinking that maybe the powers that be have forbidden me from being able to use the expansion- task force dagger! or am i crazy and maybe it doesnt really exist? please help! Would really appreciate your insight!
thanx :puzzled:

I personally downloaded the tfdexp zip file right into my tfd folder, then unzipped it to the same. I also got the 56 error message , but it still worked. I really never tried to play any of the new maps though , I basically got the exp for the new terrains and extras for the map making benefits. I did get all of the new items though , new terrains , more sounds etc.

well, I tried it again. I deleted all the expansion files, uninstalled tfd, then I reinstalled tfd and updated the game. next I downloaded the file from terranova, and unzipped it into my tfd folder. then I opened the folder, found the exptfd icon and double clicked it to begin the instalation. after the instalation I received the 56 error message again and clicked "ok"
Now this is the strange part- The last few times I've tried to do this I could view about 70-100 or so new files in my tfd folder after instalation and 3 new games would show up when I started the game. Now After I install the expansion The only new files that show up in my tfd folder are the instalation icon, instalation log, and the accompanying text document. No new bms files or anything like before, and when I put in my tfd disc and start the game i dont get any new maps.
I,m Not finding a seperate icon anywhere to start the game as I did with the Black hawk down expansion and if I just start the game like normal off the disc all I get is just the original game.
getting seriously bummed out and real close to giving up on it. I really do appreciate the input though Hutch, Blue, and Doorway! I guess I,m going to try It again a couple more times before I give up wish me luck cause I need it!
Thanx guys, P.s. - love you maps doorway, single player is my favorite and you make some dang good ones

Well monkey, I may be on to something. You wouldn't happen to have SP2 installed on your computer, would you ? Just for grins and giggles I decided to try a fresh install on one of my XP installs. I have three different XP versions running on 6 Partitions. XP w/ SP2 on 4 of them - XP w/SP1 and XP x64 on the other 2.
On SP2, I got 56 errors showing. So, I decided to try it on the install running SP1 - and it installed with no problems. Hmm.. interesting. I don't know..I'll take a look at folder differences and update you if I see anything.

Turns out it seems to be a 'folder' thing.
Make yourself an exp4tfd folder in the Program Files/Novalogic/ folder. Extract the ZIP to that folder. Install it from there immediately after a fresh install. Then update it. Then add the no cd patch. That worked fine - and didn't give me the errors that I got while trying to run it from the TFD directory (which the readme explicitly tells you not to do..lol).
All of that was done on an SP1 and SP2 install.
