View Full Version : Is this the end of times...

When I was 5 years old people have said we were in the end of times. In fact they were saying that many years prior to my birth. But current events kinda make you wonder...
It doesn't matter what faith you belong. You can call it the second coming of Christ, the days of rapture, The Day of Judgment, The return of Allah, or even the more logical fact that the Earth (Mother Nature) has always had the ability to correct imbalances.
The imbalance is that this planet is over populated with humans. A tough concept to accept, but it is true. We have consumed more of the planets resources than any other animal in history (except maybe the Dino's). Without doubt, the imbalance will be corrected.
Current events like the religious wars, al-Qa'ida (Al-Qaeda), with the recent great loss of lives in India make me wonder. I know the religious wars have been going on for centuries, but with technology and ability for humans to destroy masses with ease with nuclear & biological weapons. They are even predicting that a small nuke will likely enter San Pedro (our largest pier) and could easily be loaded onto a truck for Los Angeles 15 miles away. Or worse (for me) head south 40 miles and take out San Onofre nuclear generating station.
I have Potassium Iodide tablets on hand in the event of such a disaster. Most likely not useful, but who knows.
I'm curious; what are your thoughts?

Amazing thoughts, just finished such a conversation with some folks after watching CNN on the events of the tidal waves in the Indian Ocean (ya we get CNN Canada) . reality is ,of all the threats we need to worry about , the one we face from Mother Nature is the Greatest and most uncontrolable. without sounding insenceitive .fact is our planet has uncanny ability to cleanse itself, and weed out the areas in which to do so , I dont think it is a coincidence that major natural events that result in huge loss of live , primarily strike areas of over population. Some thing to think about.

Well, they may be able to blow the crap out of that station, and you could be in danger, but "Mother Earth" is not in control of any imbalances. God is. We have an account given to us on how the end times will come about. A sign that Christ is going to come very soon is a great falling away from God, or Apostasy. After Christ catches up His Church a man will rise up, know as the Antichrist. The Beast. The Archenemy of God. He will give the world promises of peace, but that peace will not last. After 3 1/2 years he will be killed. Yes, he will literally be killed, and he will rise up again. He will be indwelt by Satan himself, the destroyer, Apollyon(greek), or Abaddon(hebrew). After another time of about 3 /12 years, A great battle will come. Christ will return on a white horse and destroy the armies of Satan, and will Satan will be bound for a time of 1000 years, and will be loosed for another short time, but that is an entirely different conversation. To some of you, this is a great story, a myth. To others, its truth. To some it may be a big lie. But the truth remains, this IS fact, no matter what we think of it, no matter what I think of it. Read the last book of the Bible, Revelation, and that should give you an idea of what Im talking about. Look through Ezekiel, and that will give you alot more to chew on.

I used to spend time pondering these things - and plenty of it. Lately though, due to my own body 'tossing' me around, I spend no less than a few moments a month wondering if I'm not spending my last minute or two here on this planet. So, for the last two or three years, I don't spend time wondering about the 'end of times' - collectively speaking.
J_Dawgs beliefs are how I was raised. Looking at all of that now, I can't say I feel the epiphany associated with the story that I felt as a youth. It wasn't a lack of hope or faith that destroyed it - and I'm not reaping what I sowed. Strange.
As for religious wars - they should have remained spiritual. The more I watch this world pass by - the more convinced I become that the weaker the message of the spirtual leader of a certain religion is - the stronger, more adament and zealous his physical 'messengers' must make themselves - for his message alone will not conquer and vanquish the darkness that haunts souls.

All my life I’ve pondered the concept of religion vs science. The belief if whither God created life or we’re a product of a genetic cell that floated in from space. I to spent the better part of my youth pondering if tomorrow might not come, almost to the point of not living for the day at hand so I can relate to Blue that there’s better things to ponder in life then the end...life is quantum physics and uncertainty can explain a lot of life’s mystery...**** just happens!

You know the cool thing about the members here is that I can relate and agree with all of the comments here. EVEN & MOSTLY CHARGER! (who'd a thunk it).
J_Dawg and I share the same faith, however I am also influenced by science and logic. We all want to believe in an after life. Life is all we know, it's pretty hard to conceive that after death there is nothing. How can we possibly fathom something that we have never known such as nothing at all. So of course we want to believe there is some after life.
I don't want or care to get into a religious debate. I always take the neutral status so as not to ever get into such a discussion. But it is really interesting to hear other peoples opinions.
Also, I don't want or care to get into a political debate, but "our President" is the anti-Christ? C'mon Ed, kick away the soap box and get real.
