1st maps

Hi, I'm about to have a go at creating my first map. I decided to create a BHD map. I have team sabre installed alsoso my game is updated to that point. I notice that there are all kinds of downloads available for map making and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to get started.
Should the first time mapmaker just stick with the editor that came with the game or would some of the downloads be helpful/easier ( unlocked editor, etc.)
Also, would it be better to start with an earlier game such as DF2?
Would really appreciate any advice on getting started and if any tools in particular would be to my benefit. ( want to start with single player missions)

yes the unlocked editor for bhd is better then the 1 on c/d , unlocked 1 has function's that are locked in the 1 on c/d . dosent matter in maping for any df from df2 - dflw - tfd - bhd so on basic's are the same . only big differance is bhd it require's the use of wac file's to control effect's and vechiel ride's properly . and with the wac file not all effect's are seen in MP game but all are seen in s/p mission's truck helo and boat ride's are seen in MP . but to build a nice basic map the tutorial's here http://www.checkpointdelta.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=326 a nice wealth of knowladge to get ya started :D

thanx edward, I'm going to see if I can download the unlocked editor and start working on my first map. appreciate the help, and hopefully pretty soon I'll be able to create some good maps to share with y'all !
