An obvious solution - but just checking. Are you installing the game from one CD and leaving one PC short a CD on playing the game without a 'fixed' exe.
The other would be (at least this was true with earlier Nova games)..do you both have IPX/SPX/NetBios protocols running ?

I have two original games, the game does not start at all on either machine.
What actually happens is that when you click on the comanche4 shortcut/exe the mouse cursor changes to the busy cursor as if it is loading and stops, when you click on the task manager c4.exe has loaded but it is not running,it is exactly the same on both pcs.

I get this sometimes when my network has a bad card or hub creating problems (noise) - or just network problems in general (software). Since this is a 'system wide' prob, try unplugging the puters from the hub or switch... reboot and see what you get. I'm shooting in the dark here - but I can tell you what causes this on my computer.

Isnt there also some conflict with game resolution and desktop resolution being the same? I seem to remember this happening to a pilot some time back... maybe a shot in the dark too:stupid2:

:eureka: Yeppers, good thought... and you are right Watchtower. I knew we let you keep your membership for some other reason besides feeling sorry for you being so easy to beat while 'in the skies.' :P

I'm at a loss here... I have this happen every now and again with a program on the computers - not necessarily a game though. Cleaning up the network and/or the registry and disks usually fixes things for me though. Sorry I can't help you out more.
You might try deleting the cfg file and letting the game set your puters back up and see if that helps.

same thing happened to me running w2k pro
Had to run sfc from run command (remember blue?)it found that some kind of file was missing . then opened from main menu not desktop shortcut and it ran ok.

Out of the blue also,
did you get SP2???
If so I think it may be the cause
it created a little problem

Yeppers, I think that was LandWarrior we ran into that with - wasn't it..?
Anyhoo - thats Start--> Run --> sfc /scannow. You will need to have your XP CD in the drive.

I was wondering that too... but saw on the last line he said SP1. SP2 completely wrecked my home network. Couldn't even find the computers..lol.. much less share a connection.

I finally got both games working, after updating i noticed some 0byte corrupt file in the comanche folder so i deleted it along with the config file and voila,it`s working now,and so is my boys version.
Thanks again for all your answers.
